IDOL (BIGGEST DEBUT DROP YET) DOWN 18%, 26% 18-49

Glad to hear it's failing! You wouldn't pay me to watch that garbage! Besides, how is it different than The X Factor, which I also will not watch?

They are all the same thing and I'll include "The Voice" into this as well. The first couple of weeks of AI is all a bunch of caterwauling from the people who didn't make it so basically those numbers are just temporary until the FOX brass and local stations start kicking in with the promotions and those ratings will go up up up.

And the 10 PM newscast on WTIC-TV (FOX) channel 61 of Hartford goes into kissing-you-know-what mode. By then, I insist that their call letters stand for "(W)e're (T)otally (I)dol (C)razy!". They REALLY went overboard a couple of years ago, since somebody from Middlebury, CT (west of Waterbury) was on the show almost to its end.

I wouldn't say failing it's more like fading it's 11 years old after all every show has a lifespan and this show's is almost up.

Kind of reminds me of Survivor and a bunch of other shows that have outstayed their
welcome.

Is it a case of over saturation? Who Wants To Be A Millionaire was going strong until
they started showing it 6 nights a week. The Idol, Voice, X Factor have basically turned
the formula/concept into a weekly show (every week of the year).

What will be the next generation? A bake off? A paint off? A (insert anything here) off?

I would say The Biggest Loser is the biggest case of oversaturation. That show airs for 2 hours per week almost year round. I don't know how anybody can stand to watch it as it's the same thing over and over with every season.

Maybe after his one-and-only term has ended, Chris Christie could appear on the program.

To be fair, at that time if it wasn't for "Millionaire, there wouldn't have been anything on TV to watch.

As far as talent shows go, I once predicted on this chat site that
"American Idol" would never last as long as "Ted Mack's Amateur Hour"
(22 years). I'll repeat that prediction right now.

I was not surprised by the huge Idol Drop. it because the audience is reeling out from the December Finale of the X-factor.

"American Idol" has become the "Steven Tyler show." I was totally disengaged the other night, while my wife gave it much more attention.

IMO, the show seems tired, repetitive, and the same old, same old. Not sure what the answer is, but the current formula is boring and sleep-inducing. With an occasional wakeup with bad performances. Then back to sleep.
