Idol VO Annnouncer

This is maybe more TV than radio but since there are quite a few possible tie ins I hope nobody will object.

Does anybody know who the VO announcer is that has been used in the opening of several episodes of Idol this year?

At times it sounded a bit like Gary Owens, but the announcer is not mentioned in the end credits, and Google searches have only turned up people asking the question on some Idol fan forums, nobody has provided an answer yet.

I don't watch Idol so I don't know the exact answer but FOX does use KTTV's weatherman Mark Thompson as VO for a lot of shows.

Nope it is not Ryan Secrest, because when they use the VO announcer he introduces Ryan Secrest.

They don't use the VO guy every week, just sometimes.

This reminded me that when Arthur Treacher died, Merv Griffin became his own announcer. I think he said, "Now here I come..."

As the image voice of KFRC-FM a few years ago, Bobby Ocean introduced himself on the top of the hour ID.

Hah hah - no worries. We're all afflicted. Remember the columnist Dave Barry? He called it "brain sludge." It's when you can't remember where you left your car keys, but you can remember every word to the "Ballad of Jed Clampett."

Screw the car keys...where did I put that i-phone I just spent $200 on?

And for the record, I can remember all the words to the Ballad of Jed Clampett, plus that little tag at the end where Lester and Earl sing the "sponsor of the week."

Back when Charlie Van Dyke was doing mornings at KRTH they brought in Gary Owens to do his introductions. Gary sounded great as usual!

This guy sounds very much like Gary, but whomever it is Idol is not giving him credit at the end of the show or anywhere else for that matter, and thats a shame.

They credit grips and everyone else who uttered a single breath to put the show on, but not the VO announcer when he is used.

The VO guy on AI is Mark Thompson from the Fox TV station in LA.

Not surprising, he gets a lot of narration and oca work though Fox. He's on a lot of their stuff.
I don't watch AI, so I wouldn't have known who they were using, thanks for the info.
