IDT fm sound design remote software doesn't work

Hi Gents,

I am trying to connect to an IDT fm sound design box, but my SD280 remote software says "No sound design connected".
It is connected in the right way. My guess is that this unit is not capable doing remote connections via rs232.
Or i might be using the wrong software.

Ideas Anyone?

ps. the box outputs audio en stereo ( mpx ).

I think it is a password issue. Does anyone know how to reset the unit?
There is an 28C64 eeprom inside. I can read that one out, but the data seems encrypted somehow.

ah!

By what means Stha? Do you run another OS ( like windows 95 ).
I will try a laptop with slower CPU speed as well.

Thanks for replying.

I suppose that an old PIII/windows 95 combo is a good compromise. With a more recent PC, you need a true serial port, don't use any USB/serial cable. You can also use XP or windows 2000 because they all have a material acceleration control, not sure for windows 7 but that setting disappeared with vista... This acceleration control must be set just before the highest level. Also, it's important to check that you are not opening automatically a processing window as start up screen because it can create other connection errors. In all the cases, you have many chances that your connection remains unstable. Typically, you can be disconnected when moving between the processing windows. This is a very frustrating problem when you are working on a preset but your work isn't lost with disconnections. Good luck !

If you are using a v2.80, I have an original set of IDT v.4 Sound Design eproms that I could consider selling. You can make an offer off list.

Fugazi,
No sound design connected usually means serial lead problem, not password protection.
I have no problems using SD2.80 with either windows 2000 or xp.

stha,do you have the bin/hex files for the eproms?
cib-03 control card for v4 is needed,do you have eproms for all the cards including the control card?

If fugazi is not interested i may be interested in the eproms, let me know.

Paul.

Your cib card is totally different to mine, mine has far more circuitry on it than yours.
Has the board got any markings denoting what version it is ?

It says:

on the board -> TEXT; IDT INT-02
on the Eprom -> CIB.2.66

The strange thing is that i can control the cards with hyperterminal.
The unit however is responding on any ascii character and is not replying.
I looks i need some different type of software.

I now have version 2.80

This box is new to me.

I have never ever connected to this box.
I thought it was quitte easy to connect to this unit.

Here is the detailled set of IDT Sound Design eproms available for sale .

- 10X PCS 4.01
- 3X AGC 4.00
- 3X CPL 4.00
- 2X CIB 4.00
- 1X SGNA204

This is not easy to estimate. I can make a price based on the Orban FM8200 v3.0 module, let's say 299 euros + shipping.

Thanks for the offer on the eproms, but as i don't have the encoder card and looks practically impossible to obtain one,it just is not worth me spending that much on the processor.

I have been mulling over the idea of selling it,as it is just sitting there collecting dust.
Probably get more money for it selling the cards seperately on ebay !

Paul.
