If Atlanta is missing one format it would be?

And it has to be a format that would stand a good chance of succeeding.

Do tell.

Oldies. I don't get it. On FM Atlanta has three country stations, two rock, three urban contemporary, three Top 40, two adult contemporary, two spanish (frequencies, same station), and one station for every other format EXCEPT OLDIES.
______________

RJ that was quick and TOO easy!

92.9, 96.1, 99.7, 105.3... FOUR rock stations, no oldies. Oldies could succeed if they would evolve to encompass the new members of the lower end of their demographic as the higher end gets too old to spend money on stuff or dies off.

Oldies, definitley the obvious choice. But how about a "Americana/Roots music" station? Or a "Classic Urban/Hip Hop" station that wasn't all "Quiet Storm". To have a commercial station like WWOZ the public radio in New Orleans would be great, but to much to hope for.
______________

I wouldn't mind getting another shot at a 80's (or 80's AND 90's) CHR.
______________

All polka all the time!

Seriously, I still thing bringing back a beautiful (elevator music) station would work. Either that or a serious adult standards format. It may not pick up tons of rating points but if you want to just make money, it may have a shot.

It would be great if easy listening would return to the radio dial full-time in Atlanta. Unfortunately, however, the demographics just aren't there. Hopefully, Atlantans will get to know "Jack", as in the "JACK" format.

Atlanta is not missing any formats. Oldies=unwanted. It gets a 2 share. Go younger=WSB-FM and Lite.

That's what I don't get about the oldies purists. I see these 'Variety Hits' and 'Classic Hits'/'Classic AC'-type stations as a great evolution from the overplayed "Hits from the 50s, 60s, and 70s".

I've been known to be very hostile towards the 'business' side of things, but I'm not ignorant to miss how moves like this make sense.
______________

Jack sucks. Jack is a wimp.

I like "NICK." NICK is much cooler than JACK.

I also like strippers and 4 out of 5 strippers prefer the "DIRK" format.

Ergo, I REALLY LIKE "DIRK."

As we have discussed, Nick is a good idea but the wave of the future is Dirk. We need Dirk.

i agree,kool105.7 played the same songs over and over and over. you would think
out of the 60's & 70's they could have played more than the same 25 songs. the 70's at 7 was wonderful. i also liked the top 5 @ 5 until they started messing with it too. its almost like they were afraid to play some of the 'psychedelic'
music. you would also here a song on the top 5 but they would never play it again. it didn't make any sense. i still miss it though. i can't pick up sunny100 at my house. my autistic boy was somekind of pissed off when he went looking for kool and heard spanish. an oldies station would be good if they played a lot of different stuff all the time.

Rhythmic AC: It's basically what Q100 is minus the rock hits and plus the 70's music they started out with. It could succeed.

The "Red" format: St. Louis just didn't seem like the right market to test this format out. We'd support it propbably 10 times better.

I like the "Red" format ..It is my on-line radio station, now. I agree, it would get much more support from Atlanta than it will get in St. Louis.

No, they NEED a FM hot talk format! No political smut. Just guys talking about women they have had sex with, or they wish to have sex with. Straight up comedy, with guys or girls talking about their life...
