IF CC's N/T Comes To Pass - Contractual Obligations

With all the talk about CC killing of 'RNO for a news/talker, I had a thought.

What is the contractual status between WWL and Premiere Networks (CC)? If News/Talk 99.5 wants shows like Rush or Coast to Coast AM (both currently on WWL), can they just take them at will? If not, how long would they have to wait?

Speaking of which, CC bought the domains newstalk995.com and fmnewstalk995.com. In response, Entercom bought news995.com.

Also, a thought on WWL. Are they ever gonna go back to the way they were pre-K, when they ran their own news at the top of the hour? Since then, they've had CBS news at the top of the hour. Before Katrina, they only did that during 'off' hours. Right now, CBS news isn't adding anything either.<P ID="signature">______________

I know some Rush contracts contain three-month notice clauses: Either party (station or syndicator) has to give 90 days notice before pulling the show.

Looks like the killing of WRNO or at least moving a talker around has been in the plans with Hannity giving a 90 day warning to WIST back in February for a May ending at least has some warning (See end of WRNO post for letter sent to WIST killing the contract between ABC and WIST).Has anyone been hearing commercials on 104.1? Seems like everytime I tune thru they have none. I know they are kicking in BR but from what I've seen , I haven't really heard too many listening in NOLA (where it's aimed)RFLA

Many, if not all, of the Hallelujah stations have had problems generating revenue, despite high ratings. There was even talk a while back of Hallelujah Birmingham switching formats, though they've been in the top five overall in that city as of late. I thought it was just a Clear Channel problem, but I know someone who worked at a non-CC gospel station here in Jackson and he said they have the same problem. Much of that probably has to do with the perception of gospel being an "old people" format. "Old people" are a no-no to many advertisers. Why, I don't know. It just is.

because most young people that would be listning are listning to christian rap type stuff..not gospel..

I figure also they would be listening to non comms like K-love than the very commercial outlet from CC.As I've stated, I haven't heard any real ads on 104 and wonder if this would be next in line for a blowup. Also rumors going around to look for WRNO's blowup around or on the 20thRFLA
