If Celtics Win, will local stations pre-empt?

I know that in the past few years when the Red Sox and Patriots won the championships, all of the stations besides the one airing the game interrupted programming to cover the celebratory events. I'm not sure if the Celtics will be as big, since I don't know if there are as many basketball fans. But do you think they will interrupt regular programming?

Ch 7 showing The Celtics Championship Party Live From The Gardan ( as I Type This), Ch 7 better go to tape delay, before a FCC bad word get on the air( K.G. "We Kick The Bullies Ass" and " What are they going to do about it, Not a God Damn Thang" ).

WHDH broke into Leno just seconds after the clock ran out. Virtually every station with a news department went live last night: WBZ (simulcasting on WSBK for whatever reason), WCVB after ABC postgame coverage ended, WHDH, and WFXT.

Doesn't WBZ do newscasts for WSBK?

Well, yeah. A 30-minute block at 9PM. When news breaks, nobody's turning to WSBK. I totally understand a simulcast under 9/11 circumstances, but it just seemed silly to break into syndicated programming to simulcast what's already available a few spots down the dial at that hour. Usually in these cases WSBK picks up the CBS programming that WBZ isn't showing.

I guess people around the country with the satellite TV "Superstations" package got to see the excitement in Boston, but beyond that it was sorta pointless.

Ah but see, WSBK is on cable systems WBZ is not, out in Western Massachusetts. I don't know if the Springfield stations carried it or not, but WSBK's carrying it, allowed viewers in Western Mass to see the rally. So it makes sense.

WBZ had a quick cut-in, before moving the extended coverage to 38.

probably a smart move on their part. considering the game was on 5 and a small minority who stuck around to watch post-game celebration probably stuck to 5 anyway. so between 7, 25, necn, csn, nesn you're not talking a super large audience well into the night. it was a worknight and most people who watched the game had to get up early.

Didn't NECN or Comcast SportsNet kiss butt, er, show it too?

the only person who kisses butt on csn is dickerson. he's awful on tv and radio. everyone else on that network is pretty down the middle. tommy, gorman and donny marshall are probably one of the best local tv crews in the league. even during terrible seaons they've always done tremendous work on the broadcasts.

btw, felger picked the lakers but the guy has adopted a-hole #1 role in this market because he finds it really cool to pick against hometown teams, especially the pats.
