If Clear Channel was smart.....

If Clear Channel was smart, they would put the Oaisis on 97.1. They already have a Smooth Jazz station in Chicago that is doing well. With the stronger signal, 97.1 would do better with the smooth jazz. Thoughts?

It could work, but to be honest, CC is too cheap to take a risk like that....knowning them, they'll keep 97.1 El Enchilada or whatever the heck it is now until it becomes unprofitable

I agree...97.1 would be wonderful. At least I could understand what they were saying!!!

I agree, but whoever said CC was smart? I mean we are talking about the one who came up with "Blink" spots. Logic is not in their volcabulary.

Care to tell us what is wrong with the blink spots? This has been a real hit at the agency level.

"AT THE AGENCY LEVEL" Well there ya go. Listener level? "Local Level?" Does that ring a bell "Master of Grand Illusion"?

Fox is the ONLY one to buy "Blink" spots.

Hmmm...You might want to go over to the Philadelphia board and see how much posting space they have taken up since WJJZ blew up for "Philly's 106.1" and some Oscar/Emmy/Grammy/Tony Award-winner who does mornings.

Spots are sold to clients, not listeners. So the only consideration for the blink spots is whether clients like them. And they do. In fact, they were instituted at the request of clients who wanted to have name branding without the extra seconds required for a spot.

The only clients likely to want blink spots are agency accounts, as that is where the big brands are.

The blink spot is the same thing in radio as branding stadiums (stadia?).

This is one of Clear Channel's desperation moves, just like HD Radio, but there have been no takers yet ! :D Just like the HD Radio ads, no one has a clue what HD Radio is, and there is no explanation of it ! :D

Clear Channel should think of the other possiblity that ABC/ or Citidel will do SOMETHING with 96.7. Clear Channel still needs to be the first with Smooth Jazz on 97.1. Forget the Spanish, there is to much of it. Do something that makes sense people!! Clear Channel,Wake up and smell the coffee.

In Dallas, maybe. The list is different in each market.

You have no idea what you're talking about. The list is NOT different in each market, they are all sold the same, and only for FOX.

"Clear Channel Communications Inc. is selling radio ads that are shorter than this sentence."

"Clear Channel stations are also offering blinks that are just one-second long, but they haven’t found any takers — yet."

Just like the old subliminal messages in movie theaters, someone will whisper, "HD Radio", for one second ! :D

The last one for The Simpsons was neat. Homer's legendary "doh!" then the announcer "... tonight on FOX".

Simpson's spot didnt sound great? It was simple and it works. Wouldnt the listener rather hear that then a long drawn 60? Why wouldn't nonagency clients be interested? Doh!

Now why would I want to hear the CC crap in HD ? ? ? ? ?

It's like why would I want to listen to CC regurgitate their lifeless and souless corporate selection of Music ? ? ? ? ? It's already much too bad in Stereo !

CC's billbored says "CC: The Choice is Clear"

Yeah, That's what CC loves to sell to the FCC.. CHOICE !

What a tragedy for culture and music CC is !!!!

It's like what MTV has been perverted into now, compared to what it originally delivered!

Have A Nice Day !
