If Cumulus Takes Over Citadel...

... Binghamton is one of the markets where a sizable cluster exists (WHWK, WAAL, WWYL, WNBF, WYOS). Would Cumulus be interested in keeping it the way it is? What changes might occur? Any possible sell-offs?

Let's stir up the slowness of the board...

Hmmm.....we all know what I would like out of 104.1...but in all seriousness, this cluster is the big dog of the market. Always on top of the ratings from what we see...Now that "The Bear" flipped to classic hits, The Whale seems to be the lone Classic Rock format, unless KGB is leaning towards classic rock, The Hawk would be a boneheaded move to scrap...I think the cluster is just fine, just give Wild a tune-up.

I agree with the dude above about Wild. That could be a good station, but the only good personalities on that station are the morning crew, even they could use a sidekick or something. They neeeeeed to be more CHR with their on-air people.

104.1 also needs a signal increase. They don't have a large signal. They should at least put translators or repeaters or put it on a simulcast, swap frequencies with another station maybe 98.1?

That's never going to happen... WHWK has become a 'heritage' station by now (almost 30 years on air with the same format and calls)

Besides, a country format is going to have a much more loyal audience in fringe areas than a CHR.

Not only that, but I'm sure Citadel makes much more money on WAAL, WHWK and WNBF than WWYL. More advertising agencies like the adult formats than the "kiddie" formats.

The title of the thread should be "WHEN Cumulus Takes Over Citadel." The answer is, "It's gonna be painful." Pute a chute out the front door because Lew Dickey and his posse are going to squeeze blood from a stone. A 39% margin or better or else you're gone. Voice-tracking will be the plan in middays and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. The cluster will be managed out of Buffalo, Syracuse or worse, Atlanta. In short, it won't be pretty. Sorry.

ask your friends about Jan Jeffries. I am sorry, too. One thing Cumulus is good at: killing heritage stations and running off local programmers.

Any changes are probably a ways down the road.. I just wish the best for my friends @ Citadel.. They are good people...
