If Entercom did FM talk...

Hmmm...:
ENTERCOM BOSTON...? Just an idea. Wolfie, this idea's on me :p

680 WMKK "Mike" (so-so ratings for Mike on FM? why not just put it on AM...or run prog talk
or classic country)
850 WEEI sports

93.7 WRKO-FM ...AND... 97.7 WRKB talk (Finneran, Feinburg, Rush, Howie, oh, and the Red Sox--
perhaps simulcast on 680 or 850 too)
107.3 WAAF rocks

FM talk, no static, no static at all...

Because music no longer works on AM in that way. You're talking about a station with bad ratings on a frequency with bad audio. Bad Ratings + Bad Audio = Bad idea. You'd be drinking "bad idea beer" after that one...

I do like the idea of throwing WRKO on FM, and simulcasting on AM. The only trouble is, Boston already has that, WTKK. As I've said before, the days of two of the same format on FM in Boston are looong gone. There won't be a Jack as long as there is a Mike, and there Won't be a WRKO FM talk as long as there is WTKK.

I guess nobody died at Waco, during Operation Desert Fox or in the Balkans.

You kidding here? A 2nd FM talk station is really likely for Boston soon.

Talk @ 1041 isn't competing directly against RKO and TKK.

Big MISTAKE if WBCN Go 24 Hour Talk . WBCN should aways be THE ROCK OF BOSTON . TALK Belong to The AM Dial.

If Entercom did FM talk...

The would find a way to mess it up !

You are right about that ! Star 93.7 was a good station so lets put Frosty the snowman Music on 93.7, to mess it up . Everyone in MA can hear 107.3 WAAF, so let move the power so only the cows can hear 107.3 . Lets buy 97.7 so WAAF ratings can stay the same . Lets Play Musical Radio Chairs with The Red SOX and The Celtics .

bostonsportsmedia.com's Scott's Shots says that Dennis and Callahan possibly going to WBCN may not be as far fetched as you'd think...(serious discussions between D&C and both Entercom & CBS). That doesn't nec.
mean WBCN would go ALL "free talk" like what's in NYC but at least they could have D&C in mornings and
O&A delayed. Hmm.

We already HAVE a second talk station in Boston. It's called WTKK. The first was WBUR. ;D Obviously completely different politics, but they're both stations with a heavy talk element.

And I disagree that Boston has no competing formats on FM...what about WBCN and WFNX? WXRV and WBOS? (Arguably) WSNE and WMJX?

You wanna see competing formats, check out all the country in Nashville and Dallas; gospel in
Birmingham, AL, etc. :) And many cities have more than enough talk stations.

It wouldn't be so much (the Entercom idea) starting up a new talk station as moving an old one.
Now WBCN, THAT would be starting up a new talk station. Having D&C in the morning and Pats
games, etc.--a coveted young male demo.

Is WBCN a union station ? If it is, D & C will likely not go. They hate the unions. Didn't D & C lead the charge to get rid of the unions at Entercom ?
In any event, I think they would sound good on FM. It would give WBCN a nice edge.
