KROQ? 98-7 FM? 95.5 KLOS? Where do you think he would go?

Howard said on yesterday's show that he doesn't want to return to radio. He likes the freedom where he is. I think he'll re-up with Sirius/XM and also do his own Internet thing via subscription and having both audio and video.

There is a big difference between negotiation tactics and reality.

It would be smart to say KLOS due to his working relationship with Bob Moore. In my opinion, I feel he will return to CBS, and therefore would be on KCBS-FM

Howard should just start up his own syndication service. He can sure invest in his own company and studio, he can surely make millions by himself, especially with more radio stations preferring syndicated programming that will draw in a very very large audience.
Howard signing with a radio giant such as Clear Channel or CBS is just him taking a step backwards in his career. Howard is one of the most successful radio hosts in the history of radio, if he takes it somewhere, people will come along with the fact that he should be able to do the show he wants to do, not a show the suits are dicating.

I think Howard will return to terrestial radio because he needs too. He won't get anywhere near the same deal he got before at Sirius/XM which pays him around $50 million a year after paying his staff. Also he has fallen off the cultural map. He is not as big a star as he once was. The only way to become relevant is by coming back and I do see a scenario where he could be hired by Clear Channel. If that happens how about 98.7 FM?

Even if he did his own syndication he would still have to deal with the "suits" who run the stations he would need to clear to get any traction. On his side is the fact that radio revenues are falling and PPM. Management might take the chance to try and get listeners so he could conceivably get on some station in each of the major, and a lot of minor, markets.

Signing with CC would not be a good move remembering that they were among the first to pull him from their stations which started his decline on terrestrial radio.

Howard has repeatedly said he has absolutely no interest in returning to terrestrial radio.

Howard has made between $600-$700 million in radio... he doesn't 'need' to do anything. He's 56 years old and will more than likely retire--even if he doesn't, there's no way that he will return to the confines of terrestrial radio after having such unbridled freedom of expression with Sirius/XM. The very reason he left terrestrial radio in the first place is because of the aggravation from the FCC/Censorship.

These topics have come up on several boards here on radio-info and I think what people need to remember (once again) is that Howard has stated with absolutely no room for interpretation that he has ZERO interest in returning to terrestrial radio.

of course he needs too! The guy has fallen of the cultural map. Who talks about Howard anymore in mainstream media? Nobody! For his ego to be satisfied he needs to comeback to the FM dial.

I have also thought for a long time, that his satellite radio show isn't that bad in terms of content or language. Free Radio could edit the show down to made it safe for free radio and air it as it stands today. Win for Howard and Win for us

Well, even if Howard "needs" to satisfy his ego by becoming a cutural icon again, he still doesn't need FM radio. Maybe he goes into Late Night TV, Cable television, or focuses on movies. He's been working in those mediums for the past twenty years as well.
