If I complained to the FCC about 89.5 would it realy matter?

K208DK 89.5 El Campo, TX.....
That killed my chances of getting a good clean signal to KACC from Lavaca county. I now half to put it on 89.8 to get it, if I did complain to the FCC would it do any good? I just dont see why they aproved for that frequency. <P ID="signature">______________

The antenna you have hooked up must be doing an excellent job of pulling in the weak signals.

You are right it probably would not do any good complaining to the FCC. K208DK is well outside the 60dbu {1mV/m} signal of KACC and legal in spacing. It should not be slopping over onto 89.7 though at that distance.

Given your location in Lavaca County and the signal strength for both stations, the antenna is doing an excellent job at capturing signals and your receiver must be very sensitive.

K208DK is operating with 0.050kW at 65 meters and has a whopping 18.856dbu at your place from 37.3 miles away. KACC operates with 5.6kW at 101 meters, but from 103.5 miles away and a strength of 13.424dbu. Most receivers would not even detect the signal of either station.

There is a FCC Regional Office in Kingsville, you could probably call or write them that K208DK is causing interference to KACC on the 1st adjacent channel. There is a outside chance that the FCC will make sure that K208DK is with-in the bandwidth they are allocated. More likely they will be surprised that you can even hear either station.

At the least I would write a letter to the FCC Regional Office in Kingsville and explain that you did not have any problem listening to KACC until K208DK came on the air. I can't find a phone number for the FCC in the Houston phone books I have, but I think all that is here is a Field Office, if that.

Just imagine what it will be like if even half of the translators that were filed for in 2003 ever hit the air.

Good Luck.

Mike

That antenna has done wonders since I put it up about 20' in the air, I can even pull in most of the Beaumont stations almost like it was a local, Kix 108 & KQQK both fight over eachother all the time. About the only Houston stations I have trouble pulling in is KQBU, KKHT, KTHT, KFNC, KPTY, KHPT. But most of the time I can pull in KHPT over KLUB in Bloomington. I can pull in KIOL like a local most of the time. I'll see what I can do about 89.5, but probably not much.
