If it was up to you, what would you do with 106.7?

Over the past couple days, everyone here's been talking about the new format flip at 106.7 KPWT and alot of you don't like it. I was just wondering, if you could do anything you wanted with the station, which format would you make it? And which format do you think would be the most successful? And no, I don't work for Cox incase any of you were wondering. Just wondering what you personally think they should do with the station?

Hard to say off the top.

It would depend if this was my only station or still in Cox cluster.

Whatever it was it would go for #1 not be a sensible top 10-flanker or whatever Bob Neil espouses.

The stations in San Antonio and over a lot of the nation sound like Sales has taken over and the passion for the music is not there. I will give 106.7 that. I do think they are playing music that they are endeared to. I just never cared for some of it...and think we have heard this all again and again and again. How many formats have played the Eagles?

Country, Top 40, AOR, Hot AC, AC, Oldies, and Classic Rock.

I use to like the band.

Enough.

If it were up to me, I would return to the jazz/real adult contemporary format the KTUF (when 106.7 was on 106.[3-5?]), back in 1980-1981. We don't have a station with that type of format for us non jungle thumping, boot scooting, sombrero slinging, metal hair band adults. And I don't want to fire up the M-5 unit just to listen to the radio out in the workshop or in the car.

If it were up to me...

San Antonio's New Rock Alternative, 106-7, The End

First it would NOT be a music format. I would do a format something similar to CSPAN2's Booknotes which runs on the weekend on Cable. Interviews with authors and add interviews with academics and other interesting guests. Also would have lecture series for example lectures on Civil War.

leebo I like that idea...never heard the program, but like the concept.

I see a lot of my radio brothers and sisters think San Antonio is also ready for Alternative Rock!

That would be FRESH.

I must note I heard a wave of newer rock on 106.7 during middays.

It seems if they do not have their dayparting down yet just tweeking as they go.

Well if it was up to me on what to do with 106.7 I have 2 ideas...

"Next. New. Now. - SA's ONLY Alternative: 107 The Fox"

or

"Move to the Music!: Groovin' 106.7" ... or Movin' 106.7

I like Groovin 106.7 but I would like to see KTFM get establish before a Rhythmic AC format would enter the market.

Honestly, with such a crowded rock market in SA... I gotta give major props to Cox for making 106.7 sound distinctly different from the other stations. The song choices are sounding less awkward and they seem to have a great blend of song choices.

Rock on.

Simple: Keep the current format, dump The Eagles off the playlist, focus on 80s-00s and add some new stuff. I like the direction of this station though. With KTFM going CHR soon, there's no need for a third rhythmic or CHR. Cox tried and failed with CHR, both top 40 and rhythmic.

Yes, NoJustice, San Antonio is more than ready for Rock Alternative!!!

Let's hope someone important from Cox, Clear Channel, etc. is reading this board and takes note.

I heard Hearts MAGIC MAN, I said to myself "you've to be kidding". Get that thing of the playlist. How bout some freakin' REM or Psychedelic Furrs. C'mon Radio People. Stop living in a box.

we should all petition outside clear channel or something for an alternative rock channel in this town for once! I sure hope people read this. Boy I bet you that'll really put the hurting on KISS if it were to ever happen. Just like The Beat basically killed the old KTFM, which people in this town thought would never die. They all said that SA couldn't support a Hip Hop channel full time. Well, I kinda think they were wrong, do you all? Same thing with everyone or the so called "experts" saying that nothing will ever knock KISS down and that it's king. Bring an alternative and you watch the ratings. Yea, we do listen to KISS cause we don't really have any other choice for so called "newer rock". Hell, we have to wait for Mix to even hear some Indie/alt rock songs when they do play them, if they reach top 40 status.

With 106.7 I would make it Jammin or Movin 106.7 but it would be better for the ratings to have KSJL back.

This is your radio station 106.7 KSJL. KSJL is Back!

Hey Houston still has Majic 102 and they are a lot of African Americans in San Antonio. Urban AC would be my final answer but it is Cox and it they would probably make it the River.

Bringing back KSJL on 106.7 would be huge!
