How does that effect Q100 WSB and WGST?

Can WGST drop Dave Ramsey for Hannity for afternoon?

Can WSB drop Citidal and continue with Hannity for afternoons via Premeire?

Will Laura Ingraham not be renewing with Talk Radio Network (and therefore off WGKA) and if she becomes Citidal's primary talk offering she'll be afternoons on WSB and Hannity on WGST?

If Hannity moved to Premiere, I don't see him moving to WGST in its current state. When WGST stole Dr. Laura from WSB, WGST was still somewhat competitive. I don't think the Premiere people or even Hannity himself would allow the show to be moved to WGST.

Now...if Clear Channel flipped one of its Hispanic FM's to a WGST simulcast, the story might be different.

Two things:

1) I would imagine that WSB has a contract to air Hannity's shows. If that's the case, it doesn't matter who syndicates the show, a contract is a contract, just ask Vickie Locke (this just in,...Hannity has a blood clot.) WSB would do everything possible to enforce that contract. Hannity is a (crazed megalomaniac with a comb-over?) cash cow. Lastly, who would they put in his place? They would either have to get another syndicated show or move Clark/Savage to PM drive.


2) The prospect of Hannity on WGST I am sure gives Sean night sweats (worse than liberals moving next door). Imagine being forced to go from the number one news/talk station in Atlanta to one that gets routinely beaten by tone, background noise and the Walgreen's drive-thru ("For the last time Mr. Millman insurance will not cover that much Cialis").

For what it's worth, here's my 2 cents:

1. Hannity would get live clearance in all markets where CC has a N/T station. That would include markets like Miami, Tampa, Cleveland, Columbus, OH, Not big markets, but no live clearance either. It will be interesting how smaller markets where Citadel and CC have N/T stations, like Birmingham. Most likely, Citadel keeps Hannity on those stations and their big market stations, like LA.

2. When the contract's are up, look for Hannity to end up on CC stations in Orlando, Atlanta and elsewhere. He is coming back to WGST. It would take tons of cash and a live clearance to stay at WSB.

3. CC did move Rush from other stations in Orlando, New Orleans, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh. They will do the same for Hannity.

4. I have to believe that part of the move was to get him on more stations when the show is live, and not on tape delay.

5. Considering the dismal performance of the Atlanta cluster, the gruesome twosome of Bloomquist and Deskins are toast. Whoever takes over for Deskins, and assuming this new person has an intellectual thought process that is greater than a monkey, WGST is going to 94.9 (stand alone) or one of the 105 frequencies (simulcast with 640) after baseball season.

6. It also gives Levin a live clearance, following Hannity.

I think that Hannity would be back on a CC property, but not until the K with WSB is up, and not if there's some flux afoot at the CC ATL clusterf--- - not until things settle down (or there's a plan in place to settle things down).

And, yes, there will be griping and wailing and gnashing of teeth once we go back to standard time and 5:30 sunsets and WGST has to power down from 50kW to 1000W for the last several (up to 30!) minutes of his show, during PM drive in November-January (assuming nothing doing on FM).

I'd like to know how many N/NE ATL listeners listen to Rush on WDUN instead of WGST. Many times I will listen to Rush on WDUN due to the inconsistency of WGST's coverage. Since WDUN also carries Hannity, this will be a factor there as well.

105.7 would work, 105.3 would not work due to the poor NE coverage.

Of course, it would be easy to 86 Patron, Viva not so much. The likely result would be moving Viva back to 105.3.

The 'alls-to-the-wall approach would be to put WGST on 94.9, with an all-star lineup built around Rush and Hannity, and put something else cheap on 640. I don't know if CC has the 'nads to do that, though. Although such an all-star FM talker oughta get at least a 3 share (2 from 640 and some from WSB), which all of the CC properties have had problems doing consistently lately.

FM would open up this prospective FM talker to farming new local talent (Krok? Cain?) in the evenings.

A live clearance would be a tough thing to demand in big markets. I could see markets where CC has a N/T station getting first dibs when the contract ends with whatever non-CC station hold him, but a station like WFLA would fight to preserve Todd Schnitt in afternoon drive. Listener-wise, Hannity's probably better off on WFLA from 6-9 PM than any other talker in Tampa, even live.

A couple of years ago, WSB's weekend staple "Handel on the Law" became a CC property (thanks to the KFI buyout), and he's still telling people to go pound sand on 750, not 640. I'm not sure if Premiere syndicates him, but it's proof that just because CC owns it doesn't mean Cox's flagship won't air it.

I'm not convinced Hannity's going anywhere just yet, unless it's to a re-vamped 640 (complete with an FM simulcast).

Tom Taylor is reporting that a deal has been struck, and Hannity's show will be jointly owned by Citadel (ABC Radio Networks) and Clear Channel.

Sean is sticking with ABC Radio/Citadel. He will remain on WSB. You can take it to the bank.

Premiere Radio does syndicate Bill Handel's weekend show. I'm surprised WSB has never moved him to a morning slot, considering that's when he's in studio.

Handel does mornings on KFI, but that's a different show that's not syndicated. It's not Handel's legal show that WSB carries.
