If The Astros Win the NLCS......

....could Houston TV stations KPRC-2, KHOU-11, KTRK-13 and KRIV-26 relocate their entire newscasts (not just sports, but news and weather anchors as well) to Chicago this coming weekend (October 21st-23rd) for the first two games of the World Series (and if needed, October 28th-30th for games 6 and if needed, 7)??

Houston (who at this writing is one game away from winning the series) has never won a National League pennant.

Houston has had some championships in other sports: the Rockets won the NBA title in 1994 and successfully defended it in 1995; I believe the original Houston Aeros won a couple of championships in the old World Hopckey Association during the middle 1970's.

But an Astros' appearance in the World Series might be the biggest story in Houston sports history, and might warrant all-out local TV news coverage, including moving the origination of local newscasts to Chicago for the away games (and to Minute Maid Park for the home games).

I doubt anyone would send the entire newscast to Chicago; costs would be through the roof. Send one of the main talents to co-anchor, several sports anchors and reporters for coverage of the game itself, and two or three general reporters for sidebar stuff.

Remember, 2/11/13's 10p shows are going to be pummelled in the ratings the night of each game. Cost vs. benefit at work here.

The original WHA Aeros won Avco Cups in 1974 and '75. The current Aeros won the Turner Cup (IHL) in 1999 and the Calder Cup (AHL) in 2003. Of course the Comets have four WNBA crowns.

For early evening (4/5/6p) shows this would be very possible. Games will still be going on at 10p, might not make any sense for 2/11/13.
