If the FROGS were to croak ...

What if all frogs were to go to froggy heaven? What would you put on each frequency? Here's my take:

94.9 = Modern / Hot A/C - play the Hot A/C chart, and maybe a little less-risky CHR songs at night. Star 100.7 can't seem to drop the "whatever YOU want weekends." We don't need every damned A/C in this market having flashback weekends or Fridays. Play the current music without the rap, and the people will listen.

98.3 = VERY soft a/c or a '70s&'80s based MOR format. Neil Diamond, Carly Simon, Babs Streisand, etc. Put a lot of news, sports, and weather here and you would OWN the 45+ crowd. I'm surprised nobody here has tried this format yet.

103.5 - go back to full blown CHR as Rocky 103.5 WOMP-FM. WOMP was down in the dumps for years as it sounded more hot a/c than CHR. It's jocks were lifeless and the music, especially during the day, was just too plain. Put Open House Party back on the weekends, and most of all $$$spend on marketing. 103.5 could be THE CHR station for Pittsburgh/Wheeling if someone marketed it.

104.3 - simulcast Music Power 104. WLSW has been and always will be better than any JACK or BOB format. NOBODY and I mean NOBODY would play You Should Hear How She Talks Abot You by Melissa Manchester into Steely Dan into Hoobastank. Music Power 104 would and the more listeners would realize BOB is just a scam. We don't need another station in Pittsburgh playing Simple Minds and OMD for the 1,000th time.

Remember all should be live and local:
94.9 Modern
98.3 Oldies Radio. More of deeper cuts of 50's 60's 70's More Localism.
103.5 Yes flipped it back to Rocky 103.5 WOMP FM
104.3 Keep it country. BUT. Make it more of a mix of country. From Classic to Today's So called country. Also flip back to old call letters. Also more local coverage like news, weather, sports.
WOHI AM 1490 bring back local and Adult Standards. MORE LOCAL. Public Affairs and other local programming.
Edited by jds1043 on 11/07/05 04:32 AM.

Dream on, my friends. But, since I share the dream, let me focus on one station in particular ...

FM 98.3, licensed to Duquesne. (As you could tell by all the coverage it gave today's referendum there on a $1 per $1000 increase in the wage tax. What? They didn't? Oh, sorry about that.)

Seriously ... as long as Keymarket keeps getting its share of country listeners "from the Mon Valley to the mountains" as it once put it, but more accurately now from Ohio to the mountains, my only question becomes how the Green Team can be added to Johnstown-Indiana-Greensburg's Froggy 95.5.

(Yes, I know, Keymarket and Forever are separate entities. By about a 10 or 20 percent share of ownership if memory serves me correctly.)
