All CC Management did was damage control. Which was very nice of them. For all the current KEGL employees Flip or Not the rumor is out there, it needed to be addressed. Corporate didn't address it by deactivating www.971thebull.com. They said something generic and broad - if the market changes - .
Things are moving ahead/if not on time with the closing of Cumulus and Citadel ~ maybe more stuff is shaking out.
Or maybe Russ caught that actual flu virus that is going around and decided he would rather have the runs on the comfort of his own thrown, so he took a sick day..........and he is recording everything so we can all hear it tomorrow.

All The Eagle needs is an owner that gives a damn and doesn't have cookie-cutter mentality. It's sad to see what's become of such a excellent legendary brand. CC isn't the one that ruined The Eagle, but the sure haven't done much to fix it either. To be honest, they aught to pick up the phone and call Tulsa, OK and ask for Don Christy (sp?). They seem to like to clone things so they should try cloning KMOD. Now that's a decent CC rocker IMHO.
I agree with you about KMOD. I always appreciate visiting the area because I get to listen to them. KKTX in Tyler has shifted their playlist to something similar over the past couple years and I think it's worked well for them.

Now, if they would just get rid of that horrible Nikki Sixx "show"... and I used quotes for show, because it's not really a show. It's just random clips of them talking about nothing in particular then playing the same old beat-up rock songs. In fact, it's quite insulting to anyone who has ever worked a real airshift.

In a span of the last 5 years....The Eagle flipped to Sunny 97...then Bienvenidos 97....then back to the Eagle again.
All in 5 years. Talk about nothing working no matter what you flip to.
But in all honesty...with the availability to pretty much program your own music and with apps allowing you to listen to what you want over the net...radio will never have the audience it once had.

Change of imaging voice.
Change of cast on FB pages.
Cumulus is going to do what they are going to do no matter what. If its 96 Rock, I96, or whatever.
CC shouldn't be committed to the Rock arena - they've got a monster stick in Market 5 that could very well be pulling in a higher market share by playing some twang - or just something else.
