Re: If they flip, it won't be Jack....no alternative rock
>Ok ok, that's all very true, coldplay put out excellent music and deserve their just dues, but Philly is about recycling. It's as if there is no new blood in the DJ line. I mean in Philly the same old jocks bounce around the market like "rubber balls". As for the programmers killing radio....yes that is the death knell of today's radio. They all sound the same, and anymore there is no such thing as a DJ being able to say "here let me turn you on to this new sound from this new band I heard." It's just a reinvention of Payola....from the record companies lips, to the radio suits' ears....to the programmers hands. All the Dj does anymore is frontsell & back sell and say "From their recently released disc, that was Gorillaz with Feel Good Inc, and after the break you'll hear X, Y & Z artists...Next" Trained monkeys is all young DJs have been made to become. Or in the case of Rich Di Sesto or John Russel, who have alot of longevity in Philly, they lack personality and sound either like Announcers or Liner-readers.
I do however agree that Radio in general has become a moldy-stale blast of cold air coming out of my speakers. I only listen to see what songs I should be downloading from any given music service. Other than that thank god for in-dash CD systems.
I'm getting really sick and tired of hearing about how new
