If This Sounds Weird...

If This Sounds Weird...

I believe I'm Hearing Christmas songs over on Religious Station KHCB. First it was "Silent Night", then "O Come all ye faithful", and "Hark the Herald Angels' Sing" plus, "O, Holy Night" Is This done annually? and will they ever play some popular favorites, like "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town", "Do They Know It's Christmas(Feed The World)", "(Simply Having)A Wonderful Christmas Time", or "White Christmas"? We're STILL wearing summer clothes, and Santa doesn't arrive to celebrate the beginning of the holiday shopping season until Thanksgiving-The day we eat Turkey, watch the Lions & Cowboys, and cap it all off with "It's a Wonderful Life". You got 153 Shopping days left 'til Christmas...

according to there website
"Christmas in July
Don't forget that on Monday, July 25th, we will have our annual Christmas in July day. All day, the music featured on Monday will have a Christmas theme, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."<P ID="signature">______________

KVIL in Dallas did this a few weeks ago for a promotion. I think it's stupid, but it got people talking about it, I guess.

At least I got a good roll of laughter out of it.

Re: If This Sounds Weird...

Well. KHCB is a Christian station. There are certain promtions such as "Compassion" and "Worldvision" and other charities that fund programs to feed and clothe children worldwide, while inconjunction with spreading the word of Jesus Christ.

From KHCB dot org:

Christmas in July
Don't forget that on Monday, July 25th, we will have our annual Christmas in July day. All day, the music featured on Monday will have a Christmas theme, celebrating the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Many Christians feel Christ should be celebrated year round.

I was wondering if this was their annual gimmick? I don't see any christmas trees or lights decorating high atop every single house. You crazy? It's TOO Hot! Let's see if you could build Frosty out of the sands of Galveston Beach. I think KODA plays Holiday music between Thanksgiving and Christmas day(BOTH Traditional and Popular).

I'd be surprised if they play those songs like Sunny does, since KHCB is Christian, and those songs tend to downplay the "true meaning" of the holiday. I guess the "Feed the World" song does promote giving and compassion, but I don't know if it qualifies as being a Christian holiday song.

> Hey, Tiller-I know you used to work for another Relgious Station-have you ever heard of Feed The Children?-This Christian-based organization is helping out the poor, hungry, and needy. Not just the U.S.A.-But in Africa as well.

Re: If This Sounds Weird...

Feed The Children was also on KKHT when it was on 106.9FM and then 1070AM. Worldvision does a lot in South America and Africa. Compassion does the same, in addition to Asia.
