So whether you like him or not assume for a moment toucher does leave in the near future. What happens next? Also Jimmy's contract is up next month from what I have read here. Do they extend his contract for a short period of time until the new ownership is in place and make a decision on where they want to take the station and the morning show.
Does Cumulus take 99x in an older skewing direction. Say a jack-like format or a Classic Rock with a heavy emphasis on 90's rock that represents the station's best period? If that's what they do it probably makes sense to keep Jimmy and jettison Toucher if he does not leave on his own terms shortly. For a staton that tries to cater to the younger crown their recent adition was a mid 40's sports guy. I like Mitch Evans but again I am 37 so not really 99x current
target audiencs. It is not like someone is dominate the rock genre for this audience. You have 96rock and TRG but not exactly appealing to all. You have Dave FM who has quickly lost that new car smell and a junker of a morning show. And now we have the River and their monotonous playlist. If they go the Voicetracking route as opposed to local host they are destined to be a 2.3 share station. Can 99x make that leap? Or what else do you think they might turn into. I think either way we are seeing the end of 99x as we know it today.
