If traditional Jazz is your cup of tea....

..you have a place on the dial here in Houston. Since Monday, 1180 KGOL/Humble has been playing non-stop jazz and instrumental music both day and night. This isn't your typical Smooth Jazz that we've all become accustomed to in the recent past. This is REAL jazz music. Surely this is just filler until someone ponies up the money to purchase time on KGOL...but for a brokered station to not have ANY time sold says a lot about where KGOL is now after the Biz Radio debacle and subsequent departure of Rehan Siddiqui's group to KQUE.

KTSU plays jazz too

My two cent's worth...KTSU has never had a good signal in the area where I live (Mo City) due to low power and relatively low antenna height. KPVU is intermittent, and with KTRU just doing on Sundays, well, it's hit or miss as far as I'm concerned.

I wonder about KGOL..I'll have to check it out now that it's been brought to the list's attention. I also wonder why they're bothering to light it up with the electric bill the way it is, especially for their 50kw daytime operation. I wonder if it's more of a "hey, we've got this for sale, come down and drive the signal" approach.

Again, just my two cent's worth..your mileage may vary.

What radio do you use? I use an older model Bose Wave CD/Radio with a manufacturer-provided FM dipole antenna. Your reception will depend on your receiver and your antenna type, location, and placement.
