If WBZ RADIO Were Smart They Would Hire . . .

If WBZ Radio were smart they would hire Tom Finneran away from WRKO.
Finneran does not belong on morning drive and he needs the non-tabloid structure of WBZ Radio to succeed. Finneran did very well when he filled in for David Brudnoy on 'BZ and Finneran would be an excellent replacement for Paul Sullivan.

Better still, 'BZ could divide the 4 hour time slot between Finneran and Jordan Rich.

Don't be surprised if this happens. I am sure that Finneran doesn't want to be dragged down by Entercom's disaster called WRKO. That catastrophe is not the fault of Tom Finneran; it has been developing for years and it is beyond repair at this point.

You read it here first ... again.

So hack radio for hacks would help bring down 'BZ's stellar ratings. Actually you do have a point
about how he doesn't belong in mornings. If it would happen it would be good news for WRKO.
Kind of like what might happen if a baseball team blew a whole bunch of money on a hitter
who then went to have one horrendous season after another, then decides to 'retire' or
gets traded elsewhere...what a relief...

WBZ Radio has been very successful hiring hacks and getting great ratings.... Do the names David Finnegan and Peter Meade come to mind?
Two well known hacks who turned in very creditable jobs as talk hosts on 'BZ Radio.

They could do far worse than hiring Tom Finneran who may be a hack but is bright, knowledgeable, knows everyone and isn't afraid to take a position - like it or not.

Frankly, Tom Finneran is better than WRKO whose shady parent copped more pleas than Finneran could ever count.

Yes those 2 do come to mind! And CBS, for that matter, has not had an incidents where people
died after drinking too much water in a "hold your wizz for a Wii" contest...

Huh?

Just wondering, but why would WBZ break their salary model for evenings? 'BZ's numbers in the evening are pretty steady no matter who's holding down the slot, and the evening audience is only so big and with limited growth potential. Why pay AMD money when you have in-house talent like Rich who could do the show for cheap (relative) or some outside host who'd jump at the chance to ride 'BZ's signal?

Don't be surprised if this happens.

I'd be very surprised if this happened. Finneran is under contract, and makes too much money to be an economically viable replacement.

You read it here first ... again.

Well, we've read a lot of things from you here first, so that doesn't exactly inspire confidence. Seems more like a case study in keyboard schizophrenia.......

"So, my bet is on Charlie Sinnott to replace Mike Barnicle"

"Maybe Jim Braude and Rod Fritz. A very good team."

"Howie Carr's dim star is imploding and Mike Barnicle's is in the ascendency. "

"One thing for sure, Howie Carr will not get the gig. Carr has reached his level of incompetency. WRKO is as high [ or low as the case may be] that he will go."

"Don't be surprised if Howie Carr ends up at 96.9"

"My bet is still on Mike Barnicle."

TSB

Ha! Right up there with "This tunnel will be a bargain" (John Kerry). Only questions now are on what
day will Jason get fired and on what day will WTKK hold the press conf. with Grace Blazer and
GM honchos introducing their new morning guy, H.L. Carr.

Mike is still crying all the way to the bank....
Carr's appeal is limited to the greater Boston area and he has never been able to broaden his appeal ,,, such as it is.
Carr's syndication never really got off the ground and his TV appearances were never long lasting.
So, Howie will probably make it on 96.9 since FM's signals are limited to the area of his greatest sycophants.
