If WQCD Flips ...

... will anyone in NY pick up the format? Granted it may be making only a shadow of what it once brought in but it's still a well-established easy to sell format if done right. down in philly, when long standing smooth jazzer wjjz closed up shop last august by owner clear channel, a few months later greater media put it on rimshot signal 97.5 from trenton, nj. the signal's not that great in philly, but they're supposed to move their tower back to philly sometime in the future. at least the format is back on in philly. so my question is if WQCD goes, will anyone pick up the format in NY?

i forgot to mention, Cincinnati just made big radio news by putting a smooth jazz station on AM. wouldn't that be unique if an AM'er jumped into WQCD's grave. but who?

What would more interesting be was what format Emmis would choose? Whould it be Dance/CHR (Im for it), country (missing in NYC), oldies (also missing)?

emmis is not flipping it, it is being sold and they are talking about what the new company would do

If the buyer is in fact Univision, how difficult is it to guess the direction of the new format?

And as of Friday the 25th, the staff of WQCD was still being told that there's no truth to these sale rumors.

BWA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!!!!!

The staff probably wasn't told that Emmis' president himself is pushing the sale at ... ta da! FORTY (40) TIMES CASHFLOW ... meaning $200-million. Not long that ago, WQCD had a cashflow of $10-million, that could have meant a sale of 20 times cashflow or, possibly a 40x cashflow equal to $400,000,000. (That's a lot of 00000000s.)

This sale, at present, is already being called historic, if it closes in this direction.

If it closes to Univision, does this mean that David Eduardo will be sold to Emmis? ;D For how much ????
