Hello. I can't tell from reading the most recent posts on this board if most of you are current or former "radio" people. I guess it doesn't matter. I just thought I'd give a quick update on what I've been up to, so noone has to speculate anymore! ;) I have recently gone back to work part-time on Z102.9....my second home. I have missed it terribly. I was off the air completely for four years (since the birth of my son Sam in June of '02) however, I continue to mentally aircheck every jock I hear (sorry, can't help it!) and concoct breaks in my head for no apparent reason! Old habits die hard and I am a DJ, through and through! Ha! (If you are out of the biz, you can't tell me you don't do the same! LOL!). Anyway, I am so glad to be back on the air and really appreciate Eliot, Rob, Greg and the Z gang for accepting me back with open arms. It means the world to me. I have small children that have very busy schedules. It doesn't make financial sense for me to go back to work full time right now. I'd have to hire a nanny and unless radio salaries have skyrocketed since I was last on payroll, uhhhhh....you know where I'm going with this. :D Anyway, I get my Mommy time with lots of hugs and kisses at home and I get a break on the weekends where I get to "play DJ" for just enough time that I get my fix and my husband doesn't protest! A perfect fit! If you'd like to see pictures of me or my kids, I am on MySpace (my 16 year old stepson convinced me to give it a try.....while I was trying to convince him it was a WASTE of his life! Ha!). Anyway, if you've read this far....Thank you. There are so many of you "radio people" I think of often and wonder where you are and what you are up too!

Wow...another "class act" from the Z102.9 staff. I think I'm starting to see why some people work there and why others just sit around and b*tch and moan about radio. Welcome Michelle!

The Stick

Hey Stickman... could you give us a running total on what people from which stations complain the most???

Good to see that things are going well for you Michelle. Enjoyed working with you many, many moons ago

I hate to bring this up , especially when everyone seems to be getting along ...which is truly what I would like to see...but.....

I am shocked at you guys......so harsh sometimes and so eager to believe what you read at other times .
I find it funny that there are so many similarities and coincidences.
It is obvious to me that "someone " decided they better cover their tracks and come back with a new identity . (their own)
At least it is good to know there is a bit of a conscious there, but even more frightening is that these people take time to have ALTER EGOS and possibly might even be starting to convince themselves.
And who the heck is this Simon guy? never heard of him.:)
(compare former postings and you will discover a lot...if of course you have nothing better to do)
Amazing that a pretty blonde can make guys weak in the knees and gullable.
I prefer Bruntettes myself. ;)

Hi, Michelle! Hello from your biggest fan! (Good to see I'm not the only other person willing to put their identity out here...)

Here's to quick fifteen minute in-studio meetings each weekend to catch up on life in general. Hope to see you then... ;)

Stay cool, Mich...stickman1 said it best: you are indeed a "class act" and Eastern Iowa radio as a whole is better because you're back on it!

Hi Michelle,

Nice to "meet" you. The radio disease is one that stays with you for life, I'm afraid. Just like alcoholism: you can "treat" it (abstain completely), but you can never "cure" it. The urge will always be there. I retired from the biz 7 years ago and I still cannot listen to radio without analyzing the jock's content, board tightness (or lack thereof), the music mix, the processing, etc. In fact, I'd even go "back on the sauce" if the right situation presented itself. Who knows? Are we crazy, or just stupid?

I never worked in eastern Iowa. The closest I got was Fort Dodge during the mid-80s. But of course, I picked a rental house in the highest part of town and put a directional FM antenna and rotator on the roof so that I could aircheck the jocks on KOKZ, KFMW, KQCR, KKRQ, KIIK, KLYV, etc. Would run tape on a different station each night while I was at work (I did 7-Mid), then critique and compare it to mine when I got home. As I said, just like alcoholism! :)

Michelle-

I really admire the fact that you came here and said who you really were and what you've been up to. Its cool that you put yourself out here regardless of what someone might say.

I am one of the many many previous on-air "personalities" for the dreaded ex-MIX 100.3....MIX 100, My 100...whatever. I knew i would get blasted which is why i never said who i was and made the occasional post.

Welcome back to the disfunctional broadcast family...glad things are good and you are liking it.

Hi! Thanks for all of the kind words! Please don't give me too much credit for being "brave" for posting under my own name. I've spent more time than I care to admit the past few days reading prior posts! Ummm, maybe had I done that before setting up an account, I would have feared for my own reputation! Nevermind that, I have had to laugh out loud many times at the hidden truths and blatant misinformation that pop up again and again. What a riot. Radio is truly a one of a kind business and that is why I love it. Sometimes I talk to friends who have traveled the country in the business and I wonder where I would have gone and how big a market I could have made it in. One of my best friends who has worked in nearly every state has assured me that I did it best. Find a city you love, put down roots and create a history. I believe him and am thankful Cedar Rapids is my home. Thanks again for your kind words, and by the way....without the funding for highlights....I am now a BRUNETTE! Ha!

I still want to know who this Will Simon or Simon Will fella is....is he in sales or possibly an intern...station sanitation.???

Simon Will is a staple on Z102.9. I believe he is only on weekends at the moment, but he has responsibilities other than being "on air". Z doesn't need station sanitation....they leave the crap to others.

Disco John

Hi DJ,
Do the letters T.M. mean anything to you or possibly J.M.?
It's exciting when your name is in the subject heading, ha!
I think I am on to something, possibly yes?

Sorry... but no they don't mean anything to me... I don't think anyway

Steele and Simon are awesome -- great jocks and equally good people.

Christ, I feel like lighting a candle and singing "Kumbaya" now. ;)
