If you could change one thing about Real Talk 1160, what would it be?

This was the question 1160 posted on their Facebook back on the 13th. I say, if they're really wanting to compete with WLW and WKRC, they've gotta become more local. Either in terms of programming, or more local news updates (they only do local news at 7:30am and 8:30am).

I've got more than one thing, so take your pick: If you insist on Savage at noon, play the live feed at 6PM, regardless of signal. Get rid of Dennis Miller. Maybe add Clark Howard. Add local programming, but have the hosts ready to talk to themselves, they get NO callers.

OR

Blow the whole damn thing up and play jazz as in the WBND days. There is no competition for that niche. I would sponsor it.

Or flip back to sports (I still miss the old BOB 1160 from the late 90's). May as well be a sports station now since they have Simon Kenton football and boys basketball, Florence Freedom baseball, Notre Dame Football, NKU Basketball (now in Division I), some college football and NFL games from Compass Media, and the Cyclones Sunday road games (I don't like this part, though. I understand putting the Cyclones on 1050 if there's another sports program on 1160, but otherwise 1160 should be carrying the bulk of the Cyclones games because they are on the stronger signal).

I think they should go sports with a local morning drive talk show. I can remember when they were 1160 WBOB they pulled over a 2 share in the ratings with local hosts until 7 pm. Sports talk would bring in a younger listener base than what they have now with same right wing talk day after day.

Yeah but sports talk with who?? I imagine it would cost too much to go all local, and the ESPN, Fox Sports and Yahoo Sports networks are all locked up. Is there another syndicated network with any sort of brand identity to promote?

Extend Wildman's show from 5-7 to 3-7. Replace Eric Deters with someone like Paul "The Fish" Sturgeon (but not in morning drive). There's a sports network called "Sports Byline USA" that is not carried around here (the closest affiliate is in Bowling Green).

If I could change one thing...

Improve the night signal!

But, of course, I can't change that, can I? But, you asked...

Keep the Bulldog, Keep Wildman, Thick Rick, etc....air America's Radio News during the rest of the day. No one is listening to that syndicated programming.

Really? I thought Furman left for Fox Sports Radio? Not low ratings.

Didn't he start in the evening slot before switching to mornings, and then back to evenings before heading off to Fox? The ratings must have been better at 5pm.

There's also CBS Sports Radio starting in September they could air as well.

That's a CC-Cumulus deal only. I don't see a listing for a Cincinnati station, but I think if one station in those clusters fails, it could come here.

I have to make my wish include a hypothetical. *

Air Savage in the evening, similar to the 7-10 slot he had before.

*I had to assume the signal would reach southern Clermont County.

I really think it was because the show was live from Graeters, downtown. Too much of a distraction.
The folks at Graeters were, well, really great, though.

How wrong you are, sir. Our advertisers are reporting good results from all of the programming....

Right. He did much better at 5. He'd been planning his jump to FSN for months.
Who suggested Medved? Now, thats a yawner.
