WRFF HD-2 has been off all week...its a very good blend of Hard Rock and Alternative...I usually listen to it when Satellite is not available to me, example in malls or on the go when I can pick it up,...and due to the lousy Christmas selection this year on T-radio I have been listening to them more often, 97-5 HD-2 is not an easy catch in most spots...I guess HD is very unpredictable... they did get the power upgrade permission, so why are they still so weak...

If a tree falls and it's broadcast live on HD radio, does it make a sound?

I guess that depends on whether the definition for sound includes whether or not it has to be heard.

The power increase on the FM HD signals isn't going to make that big of a difference, probably just make the interference it already creates more of an issue. I'll stick to working on the internet station.

Signal levels along a stretch of road can vary by several decades, not just one; and because steel-framed commercial buildings (often with rebar reinforcing concrete or masonry walls) act as fairly effective Faraday cages at VHF frequencies, the level of signals in the FM band will drop by 10 dB every 10 feet or so from the windows (the exact unit of length for 10 dB attenuation depends on both the size of the windows and the height of the floor where the receiver with a whip or wire antenna is located).

So obviously, a 10-dB hike wouldn't help much, and a 6-dB increase will help even less.

Any improvement in coverage from the "HD" power increase will be negligible. But the increase in interference from that power increase will be significant -- very significant. It will give FM stations a taste of what AM's have been suffering for some time.

Their HD-2 is back as of today, if anyone noticed LOL....
