"If You Seek MJ"

http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1603367/20090122/spears_britney.jhtml

A number of radio programmers across the country said they weren't sure how they'd handle Britney Spears' "If U Seek Amy" — whose chorus spells out "f--- me"...

"We wanted to be careful, [because] it's pretty obvious Britney was looking for controversy," said WFLZ PD Tommy Chuck. But rather than playing the original version, Chuck said his station produced their own edit of the song that replaces the word "seek" with "see," as well as a morning zoo-style edit in which one of their morning hosts, MJ, shouts out his own name every time the word "Amy" comes around...

Yikes. I'd love to see Bubba write a song about this!

Random thoughts:

1) Mason and Bill used to do some clever satirical songs----------------

2) Remember when WABC fired Bob Dayton and we all rationalized that bit of self censorship away.

3) If MJ could be replaced by Elvis Duran or Jerry Lee Le Bon or whatever and he could be replaced by syndication on FLA, why is he still here? Considering all the syndicated shows under the KISS format, isn't 93FLZ a redundant extra branding? Don't know. I don't listen to either station, so this is not a personal critique on MJ.

4) Q105 and the Eagle don't sound alike at all. Anymore. Is there a plan here?

5) A shout out to advertisers------I listen to WDUV and I spend lots of money on trivial stuff like any 20 year old!

MJ needs to go much sooner than the 933FLZ branding does.

I heard Tommy Chuck was on Headline News talking about this for 10 minutes over the weekend. ;D

I'd like to hear the edit MJ did. Anyone have a link?

"Somebody Else' ( and he always knows) brought up the point that CC is developing national brands like "Kiss" for CHR and "The Beat" for Urban. They also added that CC was headed toward setting up old style throw back radio networks with the same programming nationally for each format. They also said 933FLZ was slated to become "Kiss".

Maybe "they" are wrong.

How many shows on the CC music stations are still local and how many are VT'ed or feeds like Kane, Seacrest, Jomama, Steve Harvey, etc.?
