With the new year coming, pretend you've accepted the position of Mediabase's alternative chart editor, and your first assignment is to make exactly five station switches/trades to make the alternative chart better. Here's a current list of "alternative" stations:

Other ideas? You give it a try.

The problem with the Alternative panel is that the format is splintered between Active Rock stations and true alternative stations. The reason why stations are not dropped, or the panel is divided into two separate panels is because they need to keep as many call letters in the genre to keep the list viable. So I would not drop any stations, but certainly add any stations, no matter what size market they were in, and especially add KJEE, a long time staple in this format.

Any of those stations aforementioned that play any band like Puddle of Mudd, Seether, Linkin Park, Nickelback, Disturbed etc. don't belong on the alt panel and need to go active rock. It's just that simple. Those bands are about as "alternative" as the Jonas Brothers.

Add KTBZ Houston to the dropped list. Guilty of playing Nickelback et al, and does live remotes at clubs that play hip hop and NO alternative.

I just looked at some of their playlist...Didn't see any Nickelback, but I did see Metallica, Theory of a Deadman etc. However I also some some good stuff like Shiny Toy Guns, Radiohead, The Airborne Toxic Event etc also being played so they aren't a bad station they just need to drop the Nickelback stuff.
