Hmmm...guilty...I do like naked breasts and even the occasional explosion, but I'm afraid you would be incorrect in you assumption that that is the only way to hold my attention. I have to say you did deliver on the predictable response to what I thought you would say an "Average Russ Listener" is supposed to be. You see I have the ability to know where a radio show ends and real life begins. It might be in your's and everyone else's best interest not to generalize & steretype everyone that does not enjoy the same things you do...it actually very simple minded of you to engage in such...see, unlike you I have the intellectual capacity to realize other people enjoy different things, and ~shock~ even some things that I dont enjoy...that however does not necessarily mean they are wrong and/or unintelligent. Might be worth checking into being a little more open minded and a little less judgmental...

Actually my point was that if he is, in fact, irrelevent as many of you claim then no one would jump on these threads with such ferocity. The simple fact is that there are a number of threads that have been on this board for several days that don't have as many reads or post as this one that was posted just this morning. That was the point I was making, and I have to say that my point has been more than proven, if by no one else, then by you. If I wanted to imply that all of the "haterz" were merely jealous, I certainly would have said that, but if you'll recall I listed that as a possible reason why there is such hatred along with a couple of other scenarios, all of which I also indicated I had no interest in knowing. Makes no difference to me why people don't like the RMS, I dont even care if you or anyone else likes it...I simply stated that I like reading the boards and find it humorous that so much energy is spent on someone that is so "irrelevant." Thats the difference in me and you and a bunch of other posters on here. I'm not ready to crucify or stereotype you or anyone else for the mere fact that you don't like something I like.

Just like weeks ago when the charges against Martin came down the pike, the RMS defenders are getting very scarce. Used to, one cross comment brought 25 or so supporters out of the woodwork. I'm almost sure we have 2 on this thread now.

Tex, I don't know what to tell you. No matter where Martin is in the ratings, he's always a very polarizing subject on here. That may never change, so expect to fight a losing battle if you think he's going to be completely ignored here. (Me, personally, I kinda like it...the postings are a pretty good barometer of public opinion. Since I don't listen, and am not privy to the Arb extrapolations, I don't have a lot else to go by.)

The original point that I had is that the RMS is NOT irrelevant yet. Clearly. I have to agree with Mike, I enjoy watching the carnage that piles up on this board, which again was part of my original point. Let me also be clear, I am not defending Russ Martin, I dont have to do that and more importantly I dont want to. I dont know Russ, he's merely a guy I listen to on the radio. I have no idea what goes on in his personal life, etc. I don't know for sure what the ratings for the RMS are, as I'm sure no one else really knows what that particular show's rating are...regardless, I like the show I listen to it and I just can't figure out why that infuriates the vast majority of you. No one's telling you what to listen to...

At any rate, I'm done with this one and on to another possibly, feel free to jump back on me again once I've gone, because like I said...I enjoy the carnage!

it really is funny what people on here write about this guy. it is too bad we in radio are of the sort who are always jealous of any jock who has success. i'm no big listener of his show, but i have found it entertaining. if you want to rag on a jock or show there are plenty in this market that are turds.

Just to clear something up that Slambang posted. Russ runs his own board. I've seen him do it day in and day out.


Next I left my radio job for the exact reason you see on this board. The people eat each other alive. I wasnt a "failure". I was a board op, production guy, associate producer for a nationally syndicated talk show host, engineer, and I've even PD'd a couple stations. My resume would get me hired in most cases. What Russ said I agree with. Its evident in these forums on a regular bases.

Your comment was a swing and a miss because you assert that you either Love Russ or you Love Russ. I don't listen to Russ and I don't hate to not listen to him. Ergo, your statement was false, hence a swing and a miss. QED.

Do I listen to Russ? Not anymore, but at one time I was a fanatic about Russ. I listened to every show, everyday. I carried a little AM/FM walkman around with me so that I could listen to him between and during class. I listened at home. I listened in the car. I tried to schedule my classes such that I would not miss his show. I knew all of the inside jokes. I got people to listen. Then, one day, something happened-Russ' show started to suck. Badly. Very very badly. One day he decided to pick up a guitar and learn how to play it on air. Do you have any idea how awful that was? Take that awfulness and add to it his sycophantic lackey’s telling him how awesome he was getting, thus encouraging him to play more. And more. And more. I went from listening to an entertaining show to listening to some jackass badly bang out crappy AC/DC songs while being told how awesome he was. I stuck around. I figured it was a phase. Then, he decided to start working out. Due to that, I was treated with him and O'Malley talking for half the show about the best way to blast your delts or work the quads. Like an insecure 13 year old girl, Russ would say "I'm fat" so that his lackey's would tell him for the next 30 minutes how hot and awesome looking he was. Bad radio. Bad, bad, bad radio. It was about then that I faded out and Russ lost this listener.

And by the way - if you don't think leaving Live 105.3 is a really good idea for you, WHY NOT MOVE FROM WESTLAKE TO SULPHUR SPRINGS!!!??? I'm pretty sure they'd give you a DECENT felony sentence down there that would not even BE converted to a misdemeanor. Hopkins County wouldn't let fly what Tarrant County did.
