iHeart Buys Two in D/FW...

Just seen on Radioinsight that both will be BIN, so no gospel for DFW I guess...
Still have KGGR. 1040 booms during the daytime. At night they may direct everyone to listen via the stream/app. I hate to see KHVN go away. Maybe it will live on the stream as well. Did iHeart buy the intellectual property of KHVN or just the stick?

If I'm not wrong, the whole package.

I wonder could Radio One/Reach Media at least put their syndicated gospel shows on a 97.9 HD frequency. Reading from the comments on the Facebook page folks are upset. But in this pandemic, Mortensen took the best offer and cut their operating costs.

Like Will said 92.5 HD2. I agree, 94.5 and 97.9 both have HD2 and 3 subchannels, although I think 94.5's are both leased. iHeart has the "Hallelujah" format, and Urban One has the "Praise" format. There are options, and I think someone will jump on the opportunity to fill the void. I wish Urban One would go ahead and purchase 103.3.

KESN is fine where it is. Radio One does not need another signal that no one can hear. It seems that Reach Media is going to lose a top 5 market for Erica Campbell and Willie Moore Jr unless they put those shows on an HD channel.

Problem is, everyone don't have or even know about HD radio, but as far as available frequencies around here, it's slim pickings.

True, but there are work arounds. The problem is many of the 55+ listeners of gospel music may not have the technology in their cars or may not know how to use a smart phone.

I'll be interested to see what they will do with the 2 translators.
Not much...they can't cover Dallas..band is too crowded...they barely fit in FTW from what I know. BIN in New Orleans on 1280 has a xlator. It was designed and constructed for the sports format that was on 1280, not BIN..its only 45watts ERP at 750ft and at the AM site, it's barely audible...plus a co channel full power 50miles to the west kills it in Kenner, etc ..plus there is no mention of the FM signal in on air imaging...oh well....

I was able to pick up the 95.3 translator at home and in my car when it was on, but I don't think it has been on the air recently.

Update: As of midnight, BIN is running on 970, 1630, and 95.3. I'm in North Ft. Worth, and 95.3 is coming in loud and clear. Didn't sound this clear when they were running Heaven 97. They are also stunting with the speeches, and soundbites that they have done in other markets. Official launch is Monday at noon.
