iHeart gets most stations; 98.5 to Beasley

I can't tell you what to expect, but though expenses will be cut (I wouldn't expect a live overnight show) but I don't think iHr will gut WBZ as much as feared. WRKO will be station to clear the Premiere stuff.
I'm very interested to see what Entercom does with Chattanooga. That leaves iHeart only in Memphis and Nashville in the state of Tennessee.

Considering that Bloomberg moved their programming to WRCA, and that iHeartMedia is divesting WKOX, WXKS could flip to Fox Sports Radio.

Remember when you and TheBigA tried to debunk my rumors about iHeartMedia selling stations within the Virginia/Carolina region? I was actually right about iHeartMedia selling stations in that region as they're trading their Richmond cluster to Entercom.

The Financial Exchange won't be going anywhere. iHeart is already airing it in 3 markets - Springfield MA (WHYN), Hartford CT (WPOP), and New Haven CT (WELI).

Are you really comparing Boston to Springfield and New Haven? ;-)

Personally, I don't think there are local ads to sell in Springfield and New Haven for those hours. I would like to think a revitalized Boston station could sell local ads during the daytime...and not have to resort to "paid programs".

Lights out for WRKO. The crazy Right-Wing dug its own grave, but bury it deep. Don't want these Zombies coming back from the grave.

Quite the opposite! Expect it to be revitalized....and run better than when Entercom ran it!

Wow I don't think anyone saw this coming... can you imagine the behind the scene meetings? Hell usually this much deal making borders on anti trust.

1430 ..... gone

1200? It may get Kuhner, and Barry Armstrong...... because I Heart is going to want Glen Beck ( yuk ) and Limbaugh on WRKO, assuming they don't move BZ to 680 and move talk to 1030 ...

Depending on Carr's syndication deal, he may be in deep trouble, but I think they will keep Howie and do Hannity on delay at 7 PM.

AM Drive... your guess is as good as mine.

If nothing else the next 6 months is going to be interesting.

WMJX gone from Beasley..... those folks just took it up the backside when Beasley got them... between the cuts by Greater Media and then by Beasley.. now in less than 18 months they are going to be part of the evil empire?

Speaking of the evil empire when they go Chapter 11, and they will, it is just a matter of time, they will default on debt just like Cumulus did today.... things might get thrown up in the air again.

Cripes just getting the studio moves done is going to keep the engineers busy for a while.

18 months? How about 12 months! ;-)

Who is the Evil Empire? Entercom? I thought it was iHeart!

That would be EMF. Thank goodness they didn't acquire any of Entercom's divestitures in Boston, because I knew very well that it wouldn't have worked with the DOJ's favor in order to approve the deal.

I don't think that is who MRBIboredop was referring to.

However, why is EMF the evil empire? They do pretty good programming in their genre...and one of the few programmers that works as a national feed. (Much like NPR)

You've dissed EMF before....and I wonder why. For what they are, they are a pretty well run and respected group.

In several markets around here, iHat drops the last hour of Beck in favor of Barry Armstrong. I'd like to see them drop the 10:00 AM to noon portion of Beck and carry Barry live from 10:00 AM till noon. In fact, IF iHat is impressed with the WRKO Morning Show, let it run till 10:00 AM and ditch Beck. I doubt he would play well here anyway.

Please - do NOT even think that 'BZ and 'RKO would switch dial positions! If so, iHat digs itself even further into debt. 'BZ at 1030 can bring in some needed revenue.

In LA, iHat's KFI is all local talk; their Premiere content (Rush et al) are on KEIB. So, let's be optimistic that iHat tweaks 'RKO just enough to get it to produce more revenue, i.e., leave Barry and Howie alone, and screw instead with 1200 AM. If they don't want to run two talkers (680 and 1200), then do something else with 1200. But they really should not screw with WBZ.

Beasley now ranks as low in my book as does iHat and Cumulus. And you know what? CBS is no prize, either, for dumping CBS Radio. (I think i hit all the big guys there.)

What a fuster-cluck!

I only dissed EMF for acquiring KSWD in Los Angeles and their plans to bring K-Love to the station while Univision already has K-Love similarly branded station on 107.5. This lead to rumors about Univision potentially rebranding 107.5 as Amor. However, DavidEduardo has debunked everyone's rumors, including mine where Univision was planning to rebrand 5 of its stations as Amor, including K-Love 107.5.

Why are you blaming the person selling?

If you are my neighbor...and sell your house to someone who paints the house fluorescent pink...I wouldn't blame it on you.

I wouldn't be saying "What was Nowradioguy thinking"? Or "Boy, Nowradioguy really dropped the ball!" or "Nowradioguy ranks pretty low in my book".

It's not the sellers fault.

i Heart is required to get rid of, at least, one of their AMs which is sure to be WXKS, 1200 AM. I'm hoping they concentrate all of the telephone talk on RKO, most local, and XKS, most syndicated I'm hoping they push WBZ even more in the news direction with more interviews and talks with reporters at night instead of telephone talk.

That wasn’t my point. I’m faulting CBS for deciding that radio is not in their best interests. They owned many, many major market stations that made money. And now they’ve trashed them all.

They can go sit in the corner over there with ABC.

I'm guessing that WBZ will continue to be called NewsRadio 1030. Isn't that what they did with WHJJ? And also WTAG.
