IHEART RADIO "BIG" ANNOUNCEMENT

If you Google search, you can obtain the pdf/word doc of the "IHeartRadio Music Festival Contest Rules" - Starts July 11, 2011. Just another Clear Channel nationwide contest. The only difference, you can now be the 20th nationwide caller not only on CC Radio but IHEART Radio. "BIG" deal.

So let me guess what's going on; iHeartRadio and ClearChannel is throwing a HUGE concert in September in Vegas ad they're probably doing sme contest where, if you qualify, you'll be able to win a trip for two (or some odd number) to the big concert.

Way to go ClearChannel for pumping us up on this just to tell us you'redoing another "worthless" contests...just like that "grand-in-your-hand" stuff they were doing....

Pandora is somewhere licking their chops right now.

Actually, I believe the big announcement tomorrow is not the contest but the addition of capabilities to IHeart Radio that will resemble Pandora. Clear Channel bought part of the company Thumbplay mainly for this.
Sirius XM 2.0, coming later this year, is expected to have similar features. And it seems to me that IHeartRadio, with its various music channels, is trying to compete with satellite radio.

If Clear Channel is going to establish a service that marries estabished content with abilities like Pandora, I think it could be a winner. Finally. This is the type of content delivery needed for radio companies to survive. Screwing up AM and FM transmission with HD isn't the answer. Its being online and part of where people go for content. And yes, that means FM radio where 92 percent of people still go, but its also other platforms. To marry that with user created content is cool.

Don't know if cheap channel is doing this in your area, but here in Orlando with their previous nationwide caller contest the promo would go off for it right in the middle of a song at the top of the hour. Guess you can't back time when there's no one in the studio but a computer ;D Come to think of it, it was even happening when someone was there. Also if cheap channel is indeed doing something like pandora, don't be suprised that they will also include at least 15 minutes of commercials an hour too.

CC is the #3 online streamer in the country, behind Pandora and CBS. I expect CBS will drop to #3 once AOL replaces it with Slacker. If anyone has a shot at challenging Pandora, it's CC.

No doubt this was what they had in mind when they acquired Thumbnail not too long ago.
