iHeart Radio issues

They don't have all of the Cumulus stations
They don't allow you to scan all of a genre or all of your stations you had set as favorites
Half the stations don't belong in categories they are in
Certain zip codes aren't in the correct market when you click on local such as my own
They have many stations listed twice as covering an area when it's not true
They don't include their HD-2s from markets
They only allow 6 skips per station
They need to better organize it it's a mess.
Half the stations flipped formats so now they aren't correctly in the categories that they are in.
Example: KTU should be in the Dance or Rhythmic A/C category not the CHR category
Wild 94.9 isn't CHR
X 106.7 isn't 90s Hits
Alternative stations most of them need to be put into the genre
They need to include the Cumulus stations to be scanned along with the CC stations
Some college stations aren't included in cities that they're supposed to be in
The premium choice crap gives you less stations than you think-how difficult is it to have different playlists
I wish MLB allowed streaming via phones/iHeartRadio i'm sure they'd get more people on board
More sports stations is what I'm asking for for each city

See my message in another thread. The Cumulus stations must migrate to Triton Digital before they can be streamed via iHeartRadio. The ex-Citadel stations were already on Triton and, therefore, have already moved.

Not sure I follow you here. I've had no trouble viewing all of my favorites or scanning by genre. Please explain?

Half the stations don't belong in categories they are in

Again, I'm not sure I follow you here. I've seen a few stations that are listed in the wrong genre, but it's not many.

Certain zip codes aren't in the correct market when you click on local such as my own

I have encountered this issue. Sometimes, it thinks I'm near St. Louis while it thinks I'm near Springfield, MO others. I'm actually about 20 minutes closer to St. Louis.

They have many stations listed twice as covering an area when it's not true

I haven't seen many of the same stations appearing twice, though it's possible I've seen one or two.

They don't include their HD-2s from markets

I agree with you here. I've noticed this as well, though they have some of the HD2's that feed translator signals. The streams from the remnants of the "Format Lab" don't match the HD2's. Also, HD2's from Greater Media are nonexistent, which is a shame because they have some really good ones.

They only allow 6 skips per station

This is mandated by federal law. The DMCA charges additional royalties to any stream that's considered "interactive." Six skips per hour is the most you can allow before being considered "interactive." I believe a court precedent actually set the 6 skip limit because the DMCA didn't specifically define what was interactive. The only exceptions to the 6 skip limit I've seen are paid services and services that only stream material in the public domain. Interactive services simply can't make enough money on ad sales alone.

Example: KTU should be in the Dance or Rhythmic A/C category not the CHR category

KTU is a CHR reporter according to Nielsen/BDS. Therefore, it is a CHR. (Source: http://www.nielsen.com/content/dam/...actsheets/Soundscan/BDS_StationsMonitored.pdf)

Wild 94.9 isn't CHR

KYLD is also a CHR reporter according ot Nielsen/BDS. Again, it's a CHR.

X 106.7 isn't 90s Hits

Agreed. It dumped that format roughly a year ago.

They need to include the Cumulus stations to be scanned along with the CC stations

This is already happening, though it's only the Cumulus stations that are currently on iHeartRadio.

Some college stations aren't included in cities that they're supposed to be in

I don't remember seeing the college stations included in any city. I think I just saw all of them included as "College."

I wish MLB allowed streaming via phones/iHeartRadio i'm sure they'd get more people on board

While I think it would help MLB to allow free streaming of their programming, it's not going to happen. I can remember working for a St. Louis Cardinals affiliate 10 years ago and having to go downstairs to the rack room to disconnect streaming of the station during the game.

I'm curious to know how Cumulus got into that and what it means for other radio corporations or small town stations.

I was thrown off when my local Cumulus stations were being advertised as available on IRH, mainly because it's a CC product.

either way, I hope that maybe this could be an opportunity for smaller stations to broaden their reach...though, not counting on it.

I emailed them to see if they'd consider adding my internet station. They said not at this time.

Tunein is the app for small market stations. They are far better organized IMO, and stay on top of format and names changes, new streams, and searching by location gives you all stations you can possibly pick up from anywhere within that market ;D

Cumulus has wanted a smartphone app for a long time but didn't want to deal with having to put it out on multiple platforms or put up with the higher support costs. iHeartRadio is one of the few radio apps that works on pretty much every Android and BlackBerry platform, and Cumulus can split the support costs for iHeartRadio with several other companies. Also, Cumulus is focused on increasing its non-traditional revenue, which it gets through SweetJack.com. Part of the deal with iHeartRadio involves Clear Channel stations promoting SweetJack.

Greater Media, Beasley, Univision, and Cox Radio are also now available on iHeartRadio, though only Univision and Cumulus are exclusively available on iHeartRadio. Emmis and Salem will be arriving very shortly, and both of them have non-exclusive deals. When it comes to smaller stations, there are a few smaller companies that have quietly added their stations to iHeartRadio, like Federated Media (out of Indiana) and Guaranty Broadcasting (owners of a cluster in Baton Rouge).

One downside is the enormous amount of time it takes for schedule updates to go into effect for your Internet station via TuneIn.com and the TuneIn app. Last Sunday, I submitted a new schedule effective this Monday; when I dial up my station on Monday, it was still showing the old lineup; it was actually updated yesterday. But still, it should not take a week for this to happen.

With Tune In I have my Simian automation send updates to their API ... that way every song / program etc.. I air shows up on their page! It's actually increased listenership.

Re: iHeart Radio issues - LOGITECH - WAKE-UP

Now if the lugnuts at Logitech would write a decent chunk of software for their Logitech Squeezebox internet radio for the iHeart application, that would be a huge improvement, but Logitech appears to have abandonded those of us that paid close to $200 for a stand-alone appliance that would work like a real radio for internet radio listening.
Anybody got a contact at Logitech that we can pester to get a decent iHeartRadio interface application for the Logitech Internet Radios?
