One has to wonder if they're not just doing the dirty work now, to make the company more financially attractive for a potential buyer. This way, the current regime takes the blame, not the incoming one.

It’s almost never about not making the new guy look bad. When a sale is in the pipeline, cuts are usually made to make the properties look more attractive to a potential new buyer.

An impending sale is certainly one possibility here, and there’s been enough smoke that it’s hard to think there’s no fire somewhere. However, it could also be a case of investors controlling iHeart wanting more of a return on their investment.

Cutting staff is unfortunately nothing new in the radio business. It's when it involves longtime and well-known veteran announcers and/or personalities is when it is noticed most. It continues to show that the radio business is sadly not for someone looking for a long career at one station.
