iHeart Norfolk is dropping the poorly performing alternative format from 105.3 WNOH and replacing it with its new Black Information Network, which launches later today on 15 stations across the country. This format could do well in the coming months given recent events and with this being a presidential election year. Once we know exactly what this format is about, those with greater knowledge than I could comment on how sustainable it seems.
This flip comes on the heels of Max Media's dropping the Urban AC/Black Talk hybrid it had run on WGH AM 1310 from February 28, 2019 to June 15, 2020. That line-up featured hosts like D.L. Hughley, Al Sharpton and, oddly enough, Larry Elder. Max is now running Bloomberg News on 1310.
