Alright, I know we like to come on here with our complaints and I do agree that the quality of radio has declined considerably in the past 10-15 years due to the loss of local ownership, stations with unique local flavor and things like Urban Oldies formats.
That said, I have to credit where it is due to Clear Channel for the quality of the streams on its new Iheartradio streaming player! I have been taping and listening to stations like V-103, WGRB-AM and WGCI Chicago off the internet this week and the quality of the stereo is exceptional!! It sounds like tuning into the local FM radio. So far, on the player they have most of the Clear Channel urbans, still missing however are the 3 stations in New Orleans, and the AM in Saint Louis. If you would have told me 15 years ago that I could listen to AM stations like WDIA and WGRB in such impressive stereo anywhere I might have a computer connection I would have thought it was a dream come true. The sound quality on these stations is far better than what you would hear on a standard AM radio. I am planning on getting an IPhone in the next few months, these stations and those from some other providers like CBS Radio are also on there with special apps, that will take my streaming listening mobility to even another level. Many of the Radio One stations have nice sounding streams (though some have occasional maintenance issues with the stereo sound), but Radio One doesn't have an Iphone App to be knowledge yet.
One other nice AM station streaming in stereo on the new CC player is Urban Oldies WGVN-AM Lexington, KY
