Iheartradio to carry Cumulus

IHeartRadio ----- another nail in quality broadcasting's coffin.

See I disagree, I think this needs to be a well thought out evolution of our medium. If we care to continue our business model we need to be everywhere our audience is. This means everywhere they want us to be, like it or not. Consumer sales show overwhelming demand to have content delivered to phones, computers, and other IP devices, it is up to us to provide that and not only provide an alternate to our terrestrial product but to do so in a manner similar to our terrestrial broadcasts.

Anyone who thinks streaming is not a part of what we do will be extinct shortly.

Case in point TV largely has ignored IP platforms outside of their own operations and has allowed their core business model to be threatened. OTA viewing is at an all time low and TV sales have not grown this year as they have every year until now despite prices. And cable providers are investing HUGE money in server farms for VOD platforms..........

I may be wrong, but I was also told once upon a time HD radio would never see daylight. SO far history has been on my side.

HD has an uphill battle for acceptance. Not the least is range. I don't care how many people who you can find not liking static, if the alternative is drop out, static will be preferable.

If I was to rely on 970 for only a digital signal, I would be using iheartradio, exclusively. I may not like the interference while riding around Sa-ra-so-ta!, which is getting worse every year, it is at least more dependable.

The internet is not secure listening. On a National Security level, if we are to not have OTA, we would experience Egypt earlier this year.

AM & FM are popular for one reason, it is simple, to operate and use, and dependable. Until that changes, advertisers will shy away and will not commercially last.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!
