iHeart's "Big Classic Hits" now on KHYL-HD2

Wonder if they're going to try to launch another super translator like 107.1?

Finally got to listening to KHYL's HD2. Seems pretty "bit starved". JammerDave, what's the source and bandwidth of the HD2. Just curious.

yeah.. Most HD-2's sound like that.. There is only 96K total for both HD's on HD stations. You can allocate it any way you want. Not sure what the rate is on the '2. When you add in mpeg audio files on playout, and any other audio coding that it might be stacked in with on an STL and the HD codec itself, then that is what happens. I don't like it much...

except that they took the Dance/EDM hits format OFF the HD2. That music is HUGE now. Not sure why it's not on a primary signal in this market. Then again, if it doesn't research a certain way it's NEVER going on air in this day and age. Happy to watch the industry die at this point. There are NO visionaries in this industry anymore...and that's the ONLY thing that can save it from it's demise.

Almost sounds like it's been fed by an Internet stream... :)

Thanks for the info.

Primary signal? Serious? KHYL is doing quite alright. A format change is not in the foreseeable future.

Name me one successful EDM station in the US. It's been tried and it does not get adequate ratings.

Energy 92.7 in San Francisco probably could have fit into that category if they didn't have such a huge debt load. I'll give Flying Bear some serious creds for what they were able to do with that frequency. Admittedly, that's the only one I know of - and they weren't strictly EDM. Lots of indie pop in the mix.
