That is a gross mischaracterization of what the Court ruled. They ruled that a President enjoys very broad immunity from prosecution related to official acts he committed while in office. They left the door open to prosecute a President for crimes committed in a non-official capacity (i.e. if he left the Oval Office and went out onto the street and murdered someone). And it reaffirmed that the only Constitutional recourse against a President for official acts done while in office is impeachment. By the way that ruling applies equally to all Presidents of either party.The Supreme Court ruled the President is above the law unless impeached. But unless a person can get a pardon it can get still can get ugly.
