Ike

May not be the place to put this but just wanted to say to everyone in the track of Ike to be safe if you stay and work thru the storm. Down here in Brazosport is in the bulls eye, and I'll be pulling out as the TS winds begin. Not sure what will be left when I get back. Y'all be safe :(

Be safe! I had to go and take my antennas down out at Lavaca county and everything else. Better safe than sorry. Take care everyone.

Today I will lower my pushup mast so the antenna is just above the roof line

Both of mine are about 20 or so feet up, my TV one is the heaviest I couldn't take the hole pole down just had to lower it. My FM is pretty light so I just put it inside the house.

We up here in Philadelphia are monitoring the conditions from afar (being radio and hurricane geeks). In fact, I am running the KHOU feed on 3 my low power Part 15 (one FM, one AM, as well as the XM 247 feed, feeds from the 3 cable news stations and Weather Channel HD).

We are all hoping for the safety, well-being and minimal property loss of our fellow radio geeks in the Houston area. God speed...

Also on San antonio KENS 5.2 and Austin KVUE 24.2.

What stations have been taken off the air if any?

That's what I'd like to know. 4 million without power, and Cheap Channel loves Generac generators. :D That's a fatal combination!

KBTV-TV's website reports they're off the air...

11's back up. Anchors said their genereator failed, then the backup to the backup generator failed. Looks like they're back on the "main" backup.

So, have any more stations been reported off the air? Down here in Waco, I have been monitoring stations, and 1010 KBBW was off the air for at least 2 hrs last night. Called the tech # and reported it, but fell asleep before they came back on air.

KBBW is off the air again, noticed it was off air again about an hour ago. Maybe they are having problems with their nighttime transmitter site. I notified the station last night, who else should I notify?

(second night the station has been off at night time.(all night))

Just now getting to where I can post, so I wanted to say thank you to the all the houston news media for their coverage. I was able to pick up KTRH during my brief 12 hr stay in New Braunfels and they did an excellent job imho. I'd also like to thank Rowdy and KILT for the live broadcast last night. It brought a nice change to a very grueling 72+ hours with about 4 hrs. sleep. Again thanks to all the Houston media, YOU WERE ALL THERE WHEN IT COUNTED.
