Does it bother anyone else that the "news" station had an investment show, a paid infomercial, and then the gardening show on Saturday morning? I understand they did updates.....but with all that was going on with the hurricane....wouldn't you have thought....they would have done just a bit more for listener? I understand that much of the metro area didn't get blasted....but how many of us have friends/family/collegues that work down in that area and we were worried about them. Just my 2 cents.

Not to mention the evacuees in North Texas hungry for any info... But you have to remember this is news Spittleville style... ::)

I assume you're talking about KRLD because WBAP had all their normal weekday staff in doing extended coverage from Friday night through Saturday night. They had several hours of non-stop coverage when Ike was coming on shore.

Actually I think there was too much coverage. It seemed to me that the News coverage was hoping for something akin to Katrina, and it was vastly overblown by all of the DFW media.
BTW: When will weather people ever be held to some sort of accountability? They throw out wrong cast after wrong cast, covering themselves with "Sunny, with a 20% chance of rain"
We have have a 20% chance of rain almost every single day!!! Talk about a great gig, "Hey I have know idea what the weather will do so here are the possible options!"

PS: This is in no way to belittle the problems people in Houston and Galveston are going thru, I am strictly talking about local coverage.

It's all the media. They want the disaster. The reason people don't evacuate is that they get tired of these "crying wolf" warnings every time a hurricane develops.

Exactly, Greg. Dan Henry at Fox 4 are going round and round on the "boy who cried wolf". The media hype, drama queens on site where "certain death" looms, is Drama Queen 1301.

KRLD dropped the ball on this whole thing, thinking the soothing tones of Neil Spearry would make the bad weather go away.. WBAP once again stepped up to the plate and handed up like professionals. On the TV end, Fox 4 kept tossing to Eager Steve and Dan The Drama Queen while splitting to Ch 26, whos got a really bad rep in houston when it comes to news. WFAA handled up properly by running KHOUs feed on 8.2 and web, NBC5 was a total joke in its coverage and CBS11 actually handled the local angle with some def. grace under pressure.
