Reviving the debate on whether.... or when... XM and Sirius become 1

Hence, this piece of information from Inside Radio
Retail sales of satellite radio have "decelerated in recent months."
Bank of America analyst Jonathan Jacoby cites NPD reports saying that retail sales growth for XM and Sirius was 26% in March - but 9% in April and just 6% in May. Jacoby's lowering his own estimates for the second half of the year from 25% to 16%. That's for retail (not in-car) sales of XM and Sirius receivers.
---
You can tell these companies are up against it when they're offering three year free subscriptions to new car buyers who sign up. Even then, half the car buyers are saying, "pass."

Where there's smoke, there's fire. Ask Jim Kramer on "Mad Money" if he'd invest in either XM or Sirius and you'll get the toilet flush sfx. Debt kills and both these companies are up to their hairlines in debt.

Every time anyone even suggests on the fan boards that satellite radio may have jumped the shark, he's hooted down as a troll or a Clear Channel spy. ::) I once predicted that XM's growth would plateau when it reached 10-12 million. Now it seems that 8 million might be the ceiling, unless XM becomes standard equipment in all models of all vehicles of all the companies it has deals with.

Now where did that comment come from? I just bought a new Pontiac in February and I only got a 3 month free subscription with it. It made no difference to me because I would have subscribed anyway, since XM is about all I listen to these days anyway. Three year free sub?? I would jump all over that! How do I get that?
