Illinois Visits Connecticut

Was sitting in my car cleaning out the trash and cleaning the inside of the windshield and picked up the following from my location in the West End of Bristol, Connecticut: (Note: None of these I was able to officially ID with Call Letters, but are guesses based on the fact that I got 94.9 which ID'd as FM 95 The Country Station).

94.9 - FM 95 The Country Station - Galesburg, Illinois
95.1 - 95-Q - Decatur, Illinois
99.7 KISS-FM - Springfield, Illinois

I also heard multiple stations on both 94.5 and 94.7 (one on 94.7 was most likely semi-local WMAS Springfield, MASS). And I heard an Oldies Station on 95.3 FM.

Nice catches MarcB. Lots of E-skip in the Southeastern Connecticut as well. At around 4:50 PM while riding around in Bozrah, I caught WXOS 101.1 (ESPN 101) out of East St. Louis Missouri. Also picked up KRLI 103.9 from Malta Bend MO. So it looks like Missouri made a visit to Connecticut as well.

Here in Central Mass - just logged 95.1 KBVB "Bob 95" Barnesville, MN and 103.5 "Cool 103.5" KUAL Brainard, MN

Many more coming in...

I'm curious if the relatively weak zone I stations in my area are strong enough to make the trip back to the midwest,

Any midwest (MN, ND, SD, etc) members logging any eastern MA or RI stations?

I was in New Britain tonight looking for a good parl=king area for the fireworks, and I was getting all kinds of quick fade ins and fade outs, but didn't get a clean call-sign, a slogan or a location hint from any of them, and this was all over the band, except for one... I was on 97.1 guessing I'd either get the spanish pirate in hartford or Hot 97, instead I thought I heard North Dakpota mentioned somewhere amidst the country from 97 Kick The Valley's country station. Got home, looked it up and found this: http://www.97kyck.com/

Re: Quebec/NB/PEI/ME visited IL too!

Today was an episode of epic e-skip here in N. Illinois. At least 3 hours of it. Now, as I live between Chicago and Milwaukee, there are few open channels available - so many e-skip events pass me by. Not so today.

Pulled in CHSJ 94.1 St. John, NB, WNSX 97.7 Winter Harbor (very strongly for a while), CBCT 96.1 Charlottetown, PEI, and TONS of signals from Quebec. Most were impossible for me to ID as they were in French. However, I confirmed CKYK 95.7 (Radio X) from Lac-Ste-Jean, QC; 94.5 Radio Energie Saugenay/Lac-Ste-Jean, CBJ-FM Saugenay, QC and CJFM (Virgin Radio) Montreal. Also, a light classical/ez listening French format that was on both 101.5 and 100.9, a French country/western station on 104.7 and a French pop station on 95.3. Never could ID those. They literally hung in for hours.

Just amazing DX! Saugenay is WAY up there. Lasted until almost sunset Chicago time!!

!

I forgot to mention the ND catch was at 9:15pm, I think I'm going to go to meriden mountain tomorrow evening and see what I get.

Could that have been KOKX-FM 95.3 Keokuk, IA? (right where the Des Moines and Mississippi Rivers meet, plus the meeting point of the tri-state area of Iowa, Illinois and Missouri). They have had an oldies format for at least the past 10 years.
