I'm a bit surprised about this

I'm a bit surprised that ABC scheduled its
new drama "In Justice" for Friday night. The
network has never had a great deal of success
with dramas on Friday (you'd have to go 'way
back to 77 Sunset Strip to find a really popular
drama series on ABC's Friday lineup). I remember
that after ABC broke up its TGIF franchise they
tried a couple of dramas (Once & Again was one),
and the next year went back to sitcoms. I would
have thought "In Justice" would air on Mondays,
with football over, instead of a couple of sitcoms
ABC is sending against CBS.

As for the show itself, I hear it's taking a
critical pasting, first for airing the second
episode first (this past Sunday), meaning that
the pilot will air this Friday. Also, it's been
accused (especially by Tom Shales of The Washington
Post) of being especially derivative of CBS's Cold
Case. (For those who don't know, Kyle McLachlan plays
the leader of a group of lawyers who reopen cases
of people convicted unjustly.) It's also been accused
of being heavy-handed on the humor.

No one seems to be giving In Justice much chance of
survival.

The timeslot is Friday 9/8 Central; the competition is
Close To Home (CBS), Book Of Daniel (NBC), Trading Spouses
(Fox), WWE Smackdown! (UPN), Beauty And The Geek (WB), at
least this week.

In re the comparison to Cold Case, I don't watch Cold Case
and didn't see the premiere of In Justice. Shales, apparently,
thinks there's some resemblance because both shows deal with
reopened cases. Anyone who's seen both shows can straighten
us all out on this, and I wish that someone would.
