I'm beyond upset with kmx morning show

Furious doesn't even do it. When I was 7 and my next door neighbor was 9. He laughed and made fun of me when I asked him what Santa was going to bring him. I remember it vividly; where we standing on the block, the gray color of the sky that day, the cold breeze blowing, the mischievous sparkle in his eyes, the fall leaves blowing blowing across the sidewalk when I looked down to hide the tears building in my eyes. That was 42 years ago nearly to the day and I remember it as well as I do anything else from my life. My neighbor, that day, stole some of my innocence from me ...a little piece never again to be replaced.

Last week I asked my wife how much longer our nine year old daughter was going to continue to believe in Santa, her reply was this. "She's still trying and still does. She thinks that if she does then Santa is real." Thanks to julie and billy on kmx this morning she may not be able to hold fast to her own belief. My daughter does not listen to kmx but many if not most of the children (NOTE TO julie AND billy, THEY ARE CHILDREN, NOT KIDS, KIDS ARE BABY GOATS) that are dropped off by parents may on their way to school. So my daughter may today get the same ridicule that I received 42 years ago but, her argument against may not be as strong as was mine because so many "heard it on the radio today".

What I heard this morning (yes, I HEARD IT) was julie wanting to begin a topic that included phone calls about (paraphrasing) "have you ever been the one to kinda ruin it for a kid and tell them that there really isn't a Santa?". Whatever thin thread of that innocence that my daughter and many other children may have had in believing in Santa could have been taken from them this morning.

Almost two years ago I stated on this board that I was turning over a new leaf and was going to try and be nice and kind to everyone. I have pretty much, pretty closely, lived up to that New Years resolution. This morning the kmx morning show ....... just like the cold breeze from 42 years ago ........blew that leaf up off of the ground. I'm not sure upon which side it will land. At this moment I am hoping that it lands with the side up that reads, NO QUARTER GIVEN NOR EXPECTED.

JUST HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA TO WHOM YOU ARE BROADCASTING? CORE AUDIENCE? TIMING WITH SPONSORS RUNNING ADS WITH A CHRISTMAS THEME.

Stewy,

If the subject comes up you carefully explain to your daughter just who Santa is and why it is important for her to continue to believe in him/her (yes, in some households Santa is a "she").

If she seems disappointed in that explanation then tell her someday she will be a Santa too and everyone needs to be trained on how to be a good Santa.

My kids children are all adults now and each one knows exactly who Santa is/are. ;D

The easiet way to remedy this problem is to change your preset.
Pandora does not have insensitive talent, just the music you want to hear.
Radio is done.
They have just not figured it out yet.

Pitiful. At least they didn't follow it up with "Santa Looked A Lot Like Daddy" Hate that song.

I have heard some so called personalities say stupid stuff before but this ridiculous! When you are a CHR targeting the younger generation, this topic is off limits! I am overjoyed that I no longer live in the area nor stream this station! Just hearing about this fiasco upsets me! I use to work with one member of team and have done everything in power not to call and ask them to take their head out of their ass! Why would try to ruin Christmas for a child?!?!?!?! Magic has done lots of unreasonable things and created this mess, but this almost takes the cake, there is just 1 other past ghost of the West that takes the cake. If I were working with these idiots or for this shamble of a company, I would probably be in jail for battery! How dare they ruin children's dreams and hope, I hope they sleep well tonight. If anybody up in the castle or on the beach with power had any common sense they would give this morning duo an early Christmas present of early retirement!

No bad feedback what-so-ever last night from child. No odd questions, now introspective looks, all seemed fine. I hope that I just over reacted, which if is the case I am sorry. I hope that all parents had the same non-issue at home as did I. Lastly, I hope that the toy drive in Enterprise goes extremely well on Friday and Saturday. Shoot, I hope that everyone has phenomenally successful toy drives for the children and food/power drives for the elderly.

I hope that all of you have a very good holiday season.

Stewy,

You had every right to react that way. Christmas is for Children and we all have inner kids (not goats). As announcers, we all need to WATCH what we say. Enough said! ::)

Stewy did you call KMX and tell them how you felt? I feel that people almost always complain to the wrong people or through the wrong channels these days. Maybe a few calls to KMX management would make sure they remember who might be listening. Or if not maybe your not in the demo and they are fine running you off.

I agree about Pandora. When it plays something I don't like there is a button I press and it goes away and doesn't come back again.

Allot of heritage stations are doing that these days. You would thing in a small market they would care about every listener they can get. I'm sure businesses aren't just throwing cash through the front door at them.

You have a PD that's never been a PD before (who's also the morning man) - a General Manager who's never been a General Manger before - and ownership who's never owned radio stations before. What do you expect?

Makes you wonder if they will have to declare bankruptcy like Bluewater.

Magic, my hat's off to you for giving Billy a shot. He's a great guy and deserves his shot at PD. He made a mistake. He will learn from it and get better. Please stand behind him and don't listen to most of these knuckleheads on this board. Unlike a lot of people on this borad who are perfect and never made a mistake behind the microphone, most of us non-perfect people had our own "Santa" moments behind the mic and we appreciate the station(s) that gave us our first shot and stood behind us, mistakes and all. Billy, I'm pulling for you man. BTW, Magic, y'all are sounding better than ever. Bud and Broadway, y'all are killin' it. Jimmy and Seletha, I'm lovin' me some BBK! Y'all keep it up.

Stewy, I am glad your kids didn't hear the Santa thing, though. Children, sorry, not kids, children! Peace brother!

Happy Holidays everbody!

Ya think?

Actually, that's the asking price. They might take $250k. Non-confirming cluster. Any purchase of the cluster must divest 1 of the FMs in order to be legal. BBK is the obvious choice.
