I'm "brunching". WLRQ Lite Jazz Brunch

Hi everyone. I'm now doing the music for the brunch show on Clear Channel A/C WLRQ, Melbourne Fl. The show is sponsored by a friend of mine, their numbers were hurtin a little because they had followed the BA lead into dreary covers and too many old pop songs - not a good move if you have a 15 year heritage in a market that has a huge CJ/SJ support base. I have actually spent more concert-going time down there than here. Check out my piece "Big Scene in a Small Town" : http://www.smoothviews.com/archives/perspectives/perspectivesAug07.htm

The show streams sunday mornings at www.wlrq.com 7-noon eastern time. Playlists are posted on the spnsor's blog - www.jazzseries.com/WordPress and on the WLRQ Lite Jazz Brunch Facebook group page . If you're in Facebook, join us. I am not voicing the show. The host is the long-time PM drive talent at the station. It's always best when you can, to have a full-time personality host brunches because it gives the show a connection with the rest of the station instead of it being a "jazz island" where some stranger comes in and plays different music.

It has been a long time since we have had such a delicious collection of new releases hit almost all at once. It's a tough balance
to keep the star/identity acts (the ones BA quit playing) in high profile, play the strong new stuff, and drop in enough heritage trax to keep
the "old guys" happy. I am also doing 90% real NAC vocals and a select group of more A/C crossover stuff that is not old, tired, and burnt out. Instrumental/vocal ratio is 3/1. And although I am focusing on one track from the CD at a time it is often not the "single" because the "Single" is the most BA-friendly song (usually riffy or a cover) and not necessarily the strongest, most melodic 25-54 "real person" song.
