I'm ditching Hot AC...

...for Bright AC. The Hot AC format, in theory, should differentiate itself enough from CHR to be noticeable. In the past year or so it has devolved down to a slower CHR chart, thus making many Hot ACs the "lame music station" in their markets. Every HAC has to take its own route to survive. We are taking the older route. Would like to hear other thoughts on the state of Hot AC and what it takes to make it as a format. I would also like to know what some good Bright AC stations are that I might be able to find on Mediabase. Thanks.

BEACH 104 in Kill Devil Hills NC. Otherwise known as WCEEEEXXXl as in WCFL. History, Heritage, and Fishing trips

Actually it's WCXL 104.1. Very professional for small market

Bright AC-Dial-Global.com.
Once you are on (Dial-global.com) look on the top right "Our Programming" Then, on the left, look for
"Digital 24/7 Formats" Click on "Bright AC"

Once you found "Bright AC" scroll down, you can listen live by a free telephone number.

Personally I do not like the AC and HOT AC format because of one song that I hear. I do not like the song "Game Of Love" By: Mitchelle Branch. That is a very bad song. It is an insult for me to hear that song on (any) radio station, especially an AC station or HOT AC stations. AC Stations are supposed to be to listen at work, with your coworkers, in Doctors Offices...
That song is very bad because, (Love) is not supposed to be a game. Love is supposed to be of true happiness, and joy. Love is supposed to be respectfull.

Other than that, Bright AC-Dial-Global is very nice to listen to

At the end of this month (sometime between Christmas and New Year's), Dial-Global's Bright AC will cease to exist (at least in name). The JSN HAC format is being merged with DG's BAC to form a new 24/7 format called...Dial-Global Hot AC!

http://www.dialglobaltotal.com/overview.php?format=5

Looks like some of the DG staff will remain, with a few of the JSN jocks being added to the lineup as well. I'm not sure that there was that big of a difference between these two particular formats musically.

As an employee of a JSN Hot AC affiliate, I have spent the last few weeks tweaking the clocks and updating the imaging for the impending change. Unfortunately I have had plenty of time to do this, since business has been unusually slow for this time of year...

How did you know of that website (doalglobaltotal.com) The only one I knew was Dial-global.com

Still searching for some Bright AC-style stations since none of these listed are Mediabase monitored. Kinda hard to find any right now anyway, considering that everybody is doing Christmas music right now. Will have to pick up the search after Christmas.

That's the website the JSN folks gave us when they announced (to their affiliates) that changes were a-comin' back in late summer/early fall. It may be fairly new.

Bright AC. I have several lists of them scattered about and these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head:

1.) WWFS Fresh 102.7 - NYC

2.) KFRH Fresh 102.7 - Las Vegas, NV

3.) WGNI 102.7 - Wilmington Beach, NC

4.) KMJE Sunny 101.5 - Gridley, CA

5.) WNSN Sunny 101.5 - South Bend, IN

6.) WCSN Sunny 105.7 - Orange Beach, AL

7.) KKSR 95.7 Star FM - Walla Walla, WA

8.) KRTR Krater 96 - Honolulu, HI

9.) WSNE Coast 93-3 - Providence, RI

10.) WCFS Fresh 105-9 - Chicago, IL

11.) KKVU Fresh 104.5 - Missoula, MT

12.) WBZE Star 98 - Tallahassee, FL

13.) KBEE B98.7 - Salt Lake City, UT

14.) WFLC Coast 97.3 - Miami, FL

15.) WLTJ Q92.9 - Pittsburgh, PA

16.) WQHQ Q-105 - Ocean City-Salisbury, MD

17.) KZRS Star 107.9 - Great Bend, KS

18.) WMGN Magic 98 - Madison, WI

19.) KKMY Mix 104.5 - Beaumont, TX

20.) KJBX Mix 106.7 - Jonesboro, AR

There is more but those are the ones I can think of. Not sure if they are all Medibased monitored but a lot are streaming online. KGBY Y92.5 in Sacramento was the best example of a bright AC.

Beejus does indeed have a good approach to Hot AC. Although it would not work for our market situation, it still is up there as one of the smartest choices for Hot AC mixes as it stands today.

Thanks for your list. Most of these stations were indeed on Mediabase and I was able to pick out the cream of the crop for a custom playlist. I sure do appreciate it!
