I'm lost...

I don't follow pay to play programming much, but am I understanding that a car show that was fired from the fan is now on the eagle?

So, 97.1 is now dumping music Saturday mornings for this? And reading some of the other posts, this wolfe guy seems to have won a lot of hearts.

I just don't get it. When did pay to play people become so popular?

Or I guess the question should be, is he even paying to be on the air (like EVERYONE else on weekend talks stations)? Is his car show that good that 97.1 brings him on to do it?

Stay tuned, I hear next month K104 is going to have Purity Products on at noon Saturday's - Woo-hoo memory switch!

He's a unique cat. I met John in 07 when I was doing a job for cumulus amarillo, and they were carrying his (non-automotive) daily nooner talk show on their ESPN signal. For a few years, he's doing this saturday car thing on numorous west texas cumulus affilliates, then literally buys the Wichita Falls ESPN affillaite 1230AM, and put the studio in the showroom of his Ford dealership in Vernon Texas of all places.

He needed some engineering help, and Cumulus hooked me up with him. The guy had been in a terrible moto cross accident and was still in a wheelchair when I met him. I stopped in the dealership to help him with a studio, bought a new truck from his guys in partial barter, and become very good friends.

If they guy wanted to make a quick million, he should sell his life story. It's a ridiculous series of events, failures and success. Too much to explain. There will be a movie about this, it's just a matter of when.

My guess is he'll be a morning or afternoon drive host within the year...then you'll understand the stir. The car thing is just somthing he's good at, and they is a high demand to bring car dealers back to advertising on radio. He is the best open format host I've ever heard (even better than Russ). But that's just one guys opinion. Hope that helps
