In a manner of speaking (no pun intended).
I've committed to advertising on the live stream of 1350 AM Radio Free Ohio.
I was one of the last news people at WCUE (under Jerry Healey) before it was "donated" and found religion.
Needless to say, I will be voicing my own commercials. I had someone produce the commercials for me here in Columbus. But after more than two decades voicing commercials for WTVN and other stations, Clear Channel Columbus axed Scott Kahler...definitely a broadcast legend down here.
Now, Clear Channel Columbus is kicking progressive talk off AM 1230 here to replace it with the likes of Laura Ingraham and Michael Savage.
So I'm leading a Columbus contingent who is moving from their radios to their computers to catch Radio Free Ohio's live stream. And I'm putting my mouth where my money is...ad money.
Like many who grew up in Akron, I was saddened by the loss of Jaybird Drennan and Joe Finan. Both of them played major roles in the establishment of country and liberal talk, respectively, in northeast Ohio.
Kudos to Keith Kennedy for giving AM 1230 listeners a place to go starting Tuesday. Ed-heads are already streaming Radio Free Ohio since he was kicked off Columbus radio three weeks ago, a sign of changes to come.
The commercials will start running on the stream January 29. You'll know when you hear them. I'll be discussing such subjects as dirty laundry. Literally. I market all-natural cleaning products, which might be of interest in the land of e-Check and phosphate bans.
And if you would like me to e-mail an incriminating photo of me with Stephanie Miller, let me know.
One thing is for certain: My parents will be seeing me a little more often.
Talking with you again very soon,
Sean Gilbow
