Imaging An Inspo Station

I've helped image Hot AC Radio Stations, CHR Stations, then recently accepted a job at a Christian radio cluster in Sturgeon Bay, WI. We're running a format similar to salem's "today's christian music" format on one of our stations, and the other station was recently flipped to an inspo format. Any tips/tricks that have worked at your inspo station that we can implement here? We have a voice to do our dry imaging, and that's about it! Help!

Thanks :)

most inspo imaging ive heard is really dry (re: stuff on American Family Radio, CDR Radio's "The Path" ) I would listen to some of the big inspo stations to get some ideas.

88.5 in WI went Inspo? Wasn't that station "Christian Country"? (prior to that they programmed an AWESOME Christian Rock format) If I remember right... The Country format sure didn't last long.

Yep 88.5 Is inspo - it's actually streaming online at WNLI.net. And you're right, it was Christian Rock for a while, then flipped to A Christian Country format. In January Bethesda Christian Broadcasting purchased it along with WPFF and in June, turned it into an inspo station - they have 3 stations in South Dakota, one is a Christian CHR, one is an Inspo, and the other a Christian AC station.

Regarding the signal, there is very little that can be done in changing the 88.5 signal. It is stuffed in tight with only a few kilometers of clearance in all four directions. Actually, there is even some overlap up north and over the lake, but the station founders were able to get rare waivers. Perhaps, someday we can add a translator in Green Bay, but for now...

Ever heard of Audible Genesis? It's great online production library with tons of beds/sound effects/drops/etc for a very reasonable price. It is geared for Christian CHR, which is were I use it, but also could be used for AC and inspo if you pick the right parts. Dave Meffert, the founder, is an imaging genius and comes highly recommended by me. audiblegenesis.com

Keep up the good work, J. "The Master"!

That's funny... we were actually talking about imaging yesterday and our GM brought up audible genesis. That will probably be the route we go, especially since the studio next door is WPFF, a Christian AC Station. Thanks!

I am surprised that Bethesda is not giving Christian CHR a try at 88.5, although since the Christian Rock format didn't do well, maybe the feeling is that CHR wouldn't work either. (From what I recall, the Rock format had plenty of listeners but few who could or did offer financial support, and underwriting was lukewarm at best.)

Admittedly, Christian CHR probably works better in Rapid City because it's on a commercial band signal and therefore they can actually sell ads with call to action.

The biggest issue with the C-Rock format I think is while it can gain a lot of listeners the folks that typically listen to a C-Rock format are not deep in the pockets thus support has to come from other areas.

C-AC, Inspo target demographics that are more likely able to give financial support.
