Imaging-Station/Corporate

Taking a survey here...3 questions:
1. Who produces your station's imaging?
2. How does your station decide what imaging library to use?
3. What library(ies) does your station/cluster use for imaging?
Been out of the game for a little.Curious to see how most stations operate today. Thanks all!

Where I am, we have 1 guy doing imaging for our classic hits and country station and imaging for another country station outside of the market but within the company (yes, extra $$) . He decides on the library for imaging. However while we have one buy out library from a few years back and our main production music library is Megatrax, our imaging guy creates all his own effects. we have 4 other stations in our cluster - they all use different libraries. While we pay cash for Megatrax, many imaging libraries are now barter. Makes it a tougher sell when you wanna suck up some inventory from sales.

Thank you!! Anyone else care to help with some input? I'm surprised barter is an issue. I would think most stations would have more of a problem parting with cash?

I don't have any new input about the topic, but a one time outlay of cash would probably cost less in the long run for a station that doesn't have problem selling avails, especially if the station plans on using the imaging stuff for a long time.

1. Who produces your station's imaging?
I do. I'm the Creative Service Director for Entercom Denver. I handle all imaging for Alice, KOSI and The Mountain.

2. How does your station decide what imaging library to use?
My suggestions. As long as the barter deal makes sense then that's what we go with. When I got the job in January I made one switch after a decent search and based on the recommendations of my imaging pals.

3. What library(ies) does your station/cluster use for imaging?
Alice uses Shortbus.
KOSI uses Production Vault AC/Holiday.
Mountain uses Production Vault Classic Rock.

We've been using Shortbus on Alice for a while (since I came to the cluster as the Asst. Production Director in 2009). Mountain switched to Production Vault back in March of this year. KOSI grabbed Production Vault in mid-April.

Any other questions let me know!

True. I've worked for companies where I had to pass on imaging libraries because they were barter. The overall cost to barter far outweighs the cash outlay. While my current company pays cash for Megatrax, if our imaging guy did need another library, he would likely have to barter it.
